The Blue Jays have designated Andrew Carpenter for assignment, according to Richard Griffin of the Toronto Star (via Twitter). In related moves, Toronto called up shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria and right-hander Jesse Chavez.
Carpenter, 27, spent the bulk of July with the Blue Jays and saw just nine innings of work across six appearances. In parts of five Triple-A seasons, the right-hander owns a 3.37 ERA with 7.3 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9.

Let the Hechevarria growing pains begin.

Who cares? The season is finished anyways. Might as well see what he can do.

but our bullpen is improved so thats all that matters

A line up that features Gomes, Gose, Hech and Cooper is a dream come true .
thank heavens we have that bullpen, so the 1 lead we have between now and the season ending will surely be secured.

the hope is that the bullpen will be improved for the next several years. No one is dumb enough to think it matters through the end of this one given all the injuries.

Why the hate on the bullpen? The Jays are able to retain nearly all of those guys for next year, so AA doesn’t even have to worry about that next offseason. He can focus on that quality starter we’ve been ever so wanting. The pen will be Santos, Janssen, Lincoln, Oliver if he doesn’t retire, most likely Stroman too. Then you will have a wide array of options like Litsch, Happ, Loup, etc. The biggest concern AA has in the bullpen is re-signing Carlos Villanueva.

He misses Snider.

Can’t wait to watch Hechevarria. Hope he does okay on the turf lol
