3:13pm: Doyle will sign with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reported last week (on Twitter).
2:49pm: The White Sox have released Terry Doyle so he could pursue opportunities in Japan, reports Mark Gonzales of The Chicago Tribune (on Twitter). The right-hander was a Rule 5 Draft selection by the Twins this past offseason, though they returned him to the ChiSox during Spring Training.
Doyle, 26, pitched to a 2.83 ERA with 8.4 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9 in 76 1/3 innings spread across 11 starts and one relief appearance for Chicago's Triple-A affiliate this year. Baseball America ranked him as the 30th best prospect in Minnesota's farm system in their Prospect Handbook before the season, saying Doyle has "a chance to stick as a long reliever or fifth starter."

Indians retain the services of Harry Doyle.

Well I heard that Popeye Doyle is going to make a comeback along with Rhéal Cormier. They are going to call themselves “The French Connection.”

But they resigned out of LONG retirement Blake Doyle.. To keep the Doyle name alive in the O’s system and also..Keeping with Duquete’s habit of over the hill people in the system Lefty 🙂

Very strange. Pretty solid Triple-A numbers and they just let him go?

I have been wondering this for a while. We see this alot with teams guys in AAA or AA(depending on the system sometimes AA is where their real talent is, or the AA team is closer to the MLB team) have really good numbers and are released. It seems to me that guys may not have big names and may not be getting any attention paid to them even though they very well may be better than whats on the MLB club I mean come on, humber has one more start to prove him self then might get bounced when danks comes back, Floyd is floyd, one week he is awesome one week he is horrible, and COME ON ZACK STEWART IS STILL ON THE 25 MAN ROSTER. Doyle SHOULD have gotten a shot even as the long man and let Zack go back to AAA where he belongs

Considering Humber and Floyd have no idea what they’re doing right now (and don’t seem to be improving), this move baffles me. Let alone the fact that the White Sox minor league system is so lowly regarded. I would have liked to see him get a chance in the majors before releasing him.
But I’m sure there is a lot more behind this than the average fan knows.

Dang, this sucks. I saw Doyle pitch in the Fall League and thought for sure he’d be making it with the White Sox soon… this is a surprise to me.
