The Rays designated Brandon Allen for assignment upon reinstating him from the disabled list today, MLB.com's Bill Chastain reports. The 26-year-old must clear waivers before the Rays can assign him outright to the minor leagues.
Allen appeared in seven games for the Rays, who claimed him off of waivers from the Athletics in April. His brief tenure in Tampa Bay included a walk-off home run on April 26th but was otherwise unremarkable. Allen has a .203/.290/.375 line in 389 MLB plate appearances and experience at first base and left field.

Again Brewers, a perfect candidate to give PT too. No more Ishikawa/Brooks Conrad at 1B

this kid deserves a chance. More at bats would definitely help.
BooJays33
dude can hit…pick him up AA.
Shane Maples
The Reds should definitely make a move for him he would give us an actual good left handed bat off the bench.
melonis_rex
He’d make perfect sense as a lefty pinch hitter for an NL team.
He just has no real use on an AL team that only uses pinch hitters rarely.

the Pirates are owed a PTBNL from the Rays, can Allen be it?

Sign Allen, Loney to AAA.

brandon Allen can play right field in pittsburgh as a platoon player, don’t get rid of tabata other than our all-star Cutch, tabata is my favorite player. With that trade that pittsburgh made should get a much better player. We need cash for Soler the free agent that would be more exciting, We are playing very well Soler could be the clean-up hitter that we look out of alvarez,

Soler can be another draft choice to add to there impressive status of adding talent, don’t think hes ready for the MLB but Pedro Alvarez money i think he would sign. Appel is going to be hard to sign try to sign him within a timeframe if not seriously attempt to go after soler. Pirates need to scout him just not on a divison foe.
