The Phillies signed Jason Pridie, according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com (on Twitter). The Athletics granted Pridie his release earlier this month, making him a free agent.
Pridie signed with the A's last offseason but didn't play a game in the Oakland organization following a 50-game suspension for a drug violation. The 28-year-old appeared in 101 games for the Mets last year, posting a .231/.309/.370 batting line in 236 plate appearances and playing all three outfield positions. He is a Sosnick/Cobbe client.

Anyone who got released this year by there team seems like they ended up with the Phillies. Looks like Marlyn Byrd will have a job soon. Looks like Phillies will take whatever they can get. They should trade Cole Hamels and get as much as they can for him to make there team better.

The only person they signed and who has made the MLB club is fontenot and that’s because galvis is hurt?

Ruben Amaro Jr has a shrine to Omar Minaya if that answers your question.

Went to high school with Pridie, he used to be so good and a promising prospect, his career has fallen apart, best of luck to him, though.

Your only two comments are about you going to school with a prospect and a not-so prospect (I bet you can tell which one is which) so its either you’re lying, you played baseball in high school and college, or its just some strange coincidence.

Went to HS with Pridie (Prescott HS in Prescott AZ) was on the freshman baseball team when he was a senior. Went to Yavapai Community College (Also in Prescott, AZ) with Kenny Giles, who was the closer there and was drafted by the Phillies.

Or maybe the signing is because Dom Brown is hurt, yet again, and there’s really not much OF depth in the system. I mean, Pete Orr is starting in LF in Lehigh Valley tonight, so that shows how the minor league OF depth is going..

He’s still not the worst ex-Met on the Phillies roster. That title belongs to Brian Schneider.

Ruben Amaro JR: People the key to build a successful baseball team is to get as much Mets trash as possible.
Phillies fans: This men is a GENIUS!!

I would say a poor man’s Jason Bay, but given recent history, he is almost an exact replica.

To be fair, Pridie is probably “depth” at the Triple A Level. He has does adequately at the Triple A level.
