The Orioles have designated Zach Phillips for assignment, the team announced. The move creates room on the 40-man roster for the recently acquired Jim Thome.
Phillips, 25, owns a 3.12 ERA with 8.3 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9 in 11 career big league appearances, all with Baltimore. The left-hander has pitched to a 3.56 ERA with 8.0 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 in 30 1/3 innings down in Triple-A this season.

Where he will win 10 games this season. Really, it happens to every former Rangers prospect.
diehardmets
If he makes it to the Mets, I seriously hope they pick him up. They need BP desperately.

I agree diehardmets!

Why him instead of someone like Berken? At least he has not been proven ineffective…
However, I do understand this move a little bit because he was supposed to become a lefty specialist in AAA, but lefties ended up hitting about .400 against him.

Don’t worry, he’ll always be in the O’s history books as giving up one of Josh Hamilton’s 4 hrs in a game.
