The Blue Jays acquired minor league right-hander Sean O'Sullivan from Kansas City for cash considerations, the Royals announced. The marks the second time in two days that the injury-plagued Blue Jays have acquired right-handed pitching depth; they claimed David Pauley from the Angels yesterday.
O'Sullivan, 24, has a 6.75 ERA with 4.4 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 in 53 1/3 innings at Triple-A this year. He started ten games for last year's Royals team, posting a 7.25 ERA with 2.9 K/9 and 4.0 BB/9 in 58 1/3 innings. The right-hander was originally drafted by the Angels in the third round of the 2005 draft.

Pitching depth? These guys are brutal. We’re going to turn these guys into gold like all our pitchers lol
Wek
And have them all get injured and repeat the same vicious cycle again.

what a disaster .. AA needs to join AA … 6.75 ERA in minors after horrendous 2011 … 6’1 / 240 lbs … can you say rotund?

How is it a disaster to acquire minor league roster filler? They need guys to pitch in AAA because of so many others being called up.
cpass
So guys like Jesse Chavez get to make another start, right? Instead of going back to the minors where he belongs.

Sure, we’ll just call Scott Richmond up so he can join the club of getting rocked. Who do you want to pitch?

O’Sully was drafted by the Angels, not the Royals. And … good riddance!

Actually the Angels drafted Sullivan in the 2005 draft. Royals acquired him in the Alberto Callaspo deal

I was thinking Sean was selected in the 3rd round by the Angels – not the Royals. He was part of the Alberto Callaspo trade

I’m waiting for the first “Alex Anthopoulos is a genius” comment applied to this transaction.

The Royals selected Sean O Sullivan? Oh really, I did not know this.

But the real question is, can Sean O’Sullivan box? (okay, wrong spelling and you have to be over a certain age and Canadian to get it)

wow ppl pinch your nipples and settle down! this is called filler – it costs jays nothing – FYI trade market usually heats up in a few weeks. To get a good pitcher will cost an arm and an elbow. AA is doing what he can to not overpay

Awesome.

Jays need pitching depth…and sice most of the minor league ‘depth’ is in the majors because of the injuries, arms are needed in the minors too. Last thing genious AA would want to do is rush a prospect simply to fill holes. The Jays do expect prospects to achieve certain criteria to graduate to the next level.

Jays find their replacement for Ryoto Igarashi.

I hope they kept the receipt

As a Royals fan, I’m ecstatic that we got anything for Sullivan.
