Orioles left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada requires Tommy John surgery, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. The Japanese starter has yet to appear in a game for the Orioles, who signed him to a two-year, $8.15MM contract this offseason.
Wada posted a 1.51 ERA with 8.2 K/9 and 1.9 BB/9 in 184 2/3 innings for the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in 2011, but has been sidelined so far this year. The Orioles have a 2014 club option for Wada, who's now 31.
Tommy John is just too popular this year.
Wada blow to the O’s promising young season
Wada mess
Jeeeeesus! A post listing all of the players who have had Tommy John in the past 12 months would be cool. There are just too many to count now.
I thought in this age of medicine and health awareness, players would be stronger. Instead, nobody can even approach 300 innings anymore, and the list of Tommy John surgeries is almost endless. Bring back the days of Whitey Ford and Early Wynn. Drink hard on Friday night, throw 10 innings on Saturday.
Wada looks like a nada…
#TommyJohn
So long Wada…
Well they used a wada cash and it doesn’t seem like it will pay off.
I wonder how giddy Rosenthal was when he reported that.
Wada Wasta of aWada Lota Money!
Voida thisa contracta nowa!
Whats the point in voiding it?
The POINT in voiding it would be to avoid paying him to not pitch. But unless this was a pre-existing injury that was hidden or something, and god only knows how that would be possible with something this severe, they certainly have no grounds to.
Then again we’re most just over-interpreting a joke, so…
No, I am actually pretty serious about this.
Wada complained the very first day he stepped foot onto Sarasota. It was too hot or could he handle pitching every five days and his elbow was bothering him from the first day of camp as well. I would look into this for sure!
I am not a huge fan of Peter Angelos to be sure, but if I worked for him Job #1 would be not to waste him money. With Wada Duquette appears to be doing that.
Wada you know, another player getting Tommy John Surgery. Wadaver.
yeeeee, suck it baltimore!
He wasn’t on their major league roster though
it wada been great to put him in Gregg’s spot though and have another lefty reliever.
…theres always Dontrelle…or wait…
