Let's keep track of the day's minor moves right here…
- The Astros have released Collin DeLome according to his Twitter feed. The 26-year-old outfielder hit .253/.318/.460 in his six year minor league career after being Houston's fifth round pick in 2007. He was the club's highest signed pick in that draft.

I had the chance to cover him in the NYPL in 2007. Stand up guy who has potential. Wondering where he is going to end up.

probably selling cars. he struck out 200 times at AAA before he even walked 40! athleticism doesn’t necessarily translate into success. now we can finally start closing the book on the tim pupura era, thankfully.

It is high round draft choices like this that explain exactly why the Astros farm situation is as bad off as it is.. Would imagine (if bothered to look it up) they took him because he was a slot (or less) sign at 5th round back in ’07 for Houston and looking over his stats in MILB.. Just pathetic.. 4-1 k to BB ratio, .318OBP, just screamed Houston farm system all over him for a high choice.
They really need to get into high gear and yes… It gets old, but the fans should be all over this new owner and demand they spend that 12m allotted for 2012 in June to get spent, rather than the paltry 5m they did last June.

Speaking of the 07 draft, the Astros had 42 picks, none in the first two rounds, and didn’t sign their 3rd or 4th round guys (I remember one of them implicitly saying he wouldn’t sign with the Astros, and Tim Pupura picked him anyway). all but maybe two are out of baseball, and only one made it to the majors…which was a guy who didn’t sign with Houston.
Happy days are here eventually…right Pirates fans?
