The Mariners have agreed to sign Dominican outfielder Hersin Martinez to a deal worth $1.1MM, the Dominican Prospect League announced. The prospect has “tremendous plus raw power and a high projection ceiling,” according to the league release.
Martinez won the inaugural DPL power showcase with an impressive showing that included one 507-foot homer. He's a below average runner but can play the outfield and has a solid-average arm, the release states.
That’s an interesting first name…was he born out of wedlock?
Sounds like Vladimir Guerrero
A below average fielder that has an average arm? That sounds nothing like Vlad
How old is he?
he’s 17
17
Scouts say he has issues making contact despite his potentially great power, sounds like he’ll fit right in as a Mariner.
yeah he has a hitch in his swing, but being 17, there’s still some time to fix that with proper help from coaches in the minors…Not saying he will fix it, all I’m saying is I wouldn’t immediately dismiss him yet either
proud to be an dominican
Trading; Enough with these prospects all ready.
