March is generally a quiet time for trades, but there's often a flurry of activity toward the end of the month. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports has the latest rumors from around the Major Leagues…
- At this point a trade involving Cubs center fielder Marlon Byrd is unlikely. The 34-year-old has been drawing some interest this spring, but a trade in July seems more realistic.
- Rival officials say Roger Bernadina isn’t a favorite of GM Mike Rizzo’s. The Nationals could part with Bernadina and rely on Rick Ankiel and Brett Carroll in center field until Bryce Harper’s ready for his MLB debut.
- Travis Snider isn’t drawing much trade interest, even though rival clubs like him. The Blue Jays are reluctant to trade the 24-year-old left fielder when his value is low, especially since they may need him at some point in the season.
- The Diamondbacks seek a long-term solution at catcher and have targeted 10-15 possible trade candidates. Miguel Montero's expected to test free agency after the 2012 season.

Bernadina isn’t anything more then a 4th outfielder.. not sure why so many Nationals fans think he deserves yet another chance to be a full-time starter

Its just because fans usually have attachment to home grown guys. If he could be a valuable trade chip then I would pull the trigger. However, I’m not sure what the Braves have that we would want, but I’m not sure about their farm system. I’d like to see Corey Brown get a chance. He got sent down way to early IMO.
LUWahooNatFan
Corey Brown needs to stay healthy, and produce at the AAA level before he gets a shot at the big leagues.. Otherwise he goes into the same bin of being a 4th OF with Bernadina
FacelessGeneralManager
Because he is pretty likable. I mean he can steal bases like mad and makes amazing outfield catches. And id rather him be their than Ankiel or Carrol.
Ray Mitten
I’d prefer Ankiel, he is excellent defensively and his bat isn’t any worse than Bernadina’s. The Shark has been given numerous chances and hasn’t taken it to the next level, its time for a change of scenery. Would the Cubs do Bernadina for Byrd? As a Nats fan, I’d be all for that trade from a Nats point of view.
LUWahooNatFan
When you post a .300 OBP, you aren’t going to get that many opportunities to steal.

Because he has more upside than an aging Ankiel or Carroll? As long as he’s the best option, you kind of have to play him.
LUWahooNatFan
Bernadina isn’t some special prospect, his upside is a 4th OF, if he is starting, then you have him platooning with a righty.. I.E. Carroll or Michaels

not sure either..I’ve been impressed with Corey Brown, I wish he’d get a chance

I agree. I am kind of surprised he got sent down so early. Probably because he doesnt have a permanent spot. But He was impressive

JP Arencibia seems destined to be catching for the DBax in the future.
rfffr
Arencibia won’t fetch any of the top 3 pitchers. I wonder if Corbin is too much.

Roger Dorn?

What makes you say that?
Fantasy Pro
He’s a young, controllable catcher with power. D’Arnaud is knocking at the door and the DBax and Jays have hooked up on a trade recently.
Runtime
I’m not following… Do the DBax need a catcher or something?
The Blue Jays also made trades with the Cardinals, Phillies, Astros, and White Sox “recently”…
From my persepctive, it seems like you randomly just picked them.

Bauer is pretty much untouchable. If I’m the Jays, I’d target Tyler Skaggs.
JRyanWalters
I dont think the Dbacks plan on flipping any of the big three (Bauer, Skaggs, Bradley). I could see a trade involving Corbin/Brewer/Miley and a postion player prospect to land a future backstop.
Encarnacion's Parrot
Have to give to get. Not that Arencibia is worth Skaggs straight up (unless he puts up a much better year defensively and OBP-wise), but the Jays could easily add a good prospect to package with.
regardless though, the Jays most likely won’t be trading Arencibia until next off-season, so there’s lots of baseball to be played to fluctuate their value.

D’arnaud has gained a rep as being often injured.
Especially when you plan on being competitive, I’d just keep JP around as back up/insurance. If you trade him and D’arnaud goes down you’re in big trouble.
I’d wait until Jimenez is knocking, then trade 1 of the 3
Encarnacion's Parrot
Not a bad idea either. I don’t doubt that Jimenez could make AA, maybe even AAA if he has another good year. Hopefully the power shows up in 2012.
Lunchbox45
he’s starting in new hampshire this year last I checked..
The power is coming, rather slowly though. But if he develops he’ll be dangerous because he can already hit for average and get on base and is well above average defensively
Encarnacion's Parrot
And he’s still really young. I guess where I’d like to see the most improvement is his walk rates. Career 4.9% and 6.6% last year doesn’t get me too excited, but the fact that there’s some improvement leaves me optimistic.
I’d like to see a consistent 8% for the next couple years.

Bauer wont be traded anytime soon, he will be pitching in AZ in about a month and a half.

Toronto still believes Snider will be our long-term LF.
Well, I do, anyway.
