We'll keep track of the day's outright assignments right here…
- The Cubs have outrighted Casey Weathers to Triple-A, the team announced. The 26-year-old right-handed reliever was acquired from the Rockies along with Ian Stewart back in December. Weathers has yet to pitch above Double-A in his career, and he's allowed two runs on a hit and three walks in two Spring Training innings. There are now 39 players on the Cubs' 40-man roster.

Stewart doesn’t look bad so far, but I really hope the Colvin trade doesn’t end up being a mistake on the part of the Cubs.

IMO. Im glad they moved Colvin. With him still on the team where is the room for Jackson?

Precursor to a signing? Seems there has been a lot more Soler chatter in the last four or five days.

I hope the Cubs get Soler because I already have the “Soler Power!” catchphrase ready for when he hits a homerun.

Soler has not been declared a free agent yet. I think this move is just to give them some flexibility. Maybe they can nab another guy off waivers now if someone interesting gets cut loose. Worst case scenario, they can call up one of their non-roster guys at the end of camp without having to shuffle the deck.
