The Mariners avoided arbitration with closer Brandon League, agreeing to a $5MM deal, tweets Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Matt Swartz had projected $4.2MM for the ACES client. League will be eligible for free agency after the 2012 season.
As our arbitration tracker shows, the Mariners have Jason Vargas and Shawn Kelley remaining.

Just give the job to Kelley, Wilhemsen, Ruffin, or even Delabar for crying out loud. Milk Brandon League for every prospect he’s worth.

If they trade League it will not be tell trade deadline. To many closers out there to just give away. If he can stay heathy and productive tell then they will be able to get alot more for him and let the other options show more of what they can do. Kelly still coming off injury and the others still young and not showed they can handle closing. I would find inning for league even if not in closing situations to build up trade value.
