Want to be the first to know where Prince Fielder, Carlos Beltran, and Gio Gonzalez land? MLBTR is already coming at you from many angles, and now we have an option to receive text message alerts on your mobile phone.
If you'd like to receive a text message on your cell phone for each significant MLB transaction, just text IMS2 MLBTR to 368674. It's not case-sensitive but please note the space between "IMS2" and "MLBTR." Each news text message will likely include a sponsored message at the end. To comply with FCC text message regulations you are required to double opt-in by replying with a 1, then a yes to subscribe. Once you successfully opt in, you'll receive a message that says "Thank you for subscribing!"
The service is free, though standard message and data rates may apply. Your information will never shared or sold to third parties. The MLBTR service will not work if your carrier is MetroPCS.
If you're an advertiser who would like to send a sponsored message following an MLBTR news text, contact Tim Dierkes at mlbtradvertising@gmail.com.

Awesome. Love it.

I would like this idea if it was team specific. I don’t really care if the (enter random team) cuts a minor league guy.
I just want to know if the Braves do something! I know, don’t hold my breath….
martinfv2
This is just major transactions.

according to @piodeportes tweet, Beltran is signing a 2 year deal with the Cardinals. Just trying to figure out if he is legit as a source or not (he DID tweet that Pujols was flying to Anaheim for a physical the DAY BEFORE he signed with the Angels)…so I am trying to give some credibility.
Ryan Winkel
Yeah if he signs with Cards he should get credit for reporting it if turns out true.
I am not sure what to think about this guy because it seems like some of what he says is fluff, but he might have some really good sources who give away specific information that even some of these analysis guys aren’t privy to.
He has been right on several signings Pujols was his big one. It should be interesting going forward with this guy how much credibility they give him.
It can’t go unnoticed because that would be wrong not giving him credit for it.
martinfv2
We’re not giving him credit even if he’s right, because he’s been wrong on way too much stuff.

this idea is rediculous. talk about obsessive.
JacksTigers
How?
jrock247
And here you are in the middle of the off season posting on MLBTR.
Ziggy22
No, your spelling is ridiculous.

For those worried about its effectiveness…
I signed up for it when it was first announced in preparation of the Darvish announcement. Apparently there was some technical issues and the text didnt go out. I deactivated but was given assurances through the comments forum that the problem had been corrected. I signed up again and, true to their word, there haven’t been any problems since.
Ryan Winkel
Agreed thier were problems before and I was dissapointed I didnt get a text for Darvish. I have gotten one for Betancourt, Reed Johnson, Sean Marshall being traded, Jose Mijares, John Danks extension, and DeRosa.
martinfv2
That’s correct…we messed up on Darvish, the first one, but it’s been perfect since for about ten texts.
bobby boyett
if i’m already getting tweets from you why do i need texts?
JacksTigers
Wait a second. Is that ad going to be a seperate text or just at the tail end of a transaction text? I’m not interested in getting random ads at weird times of the day and will have to stop those texts if I do.
martinfv2
Tail end of a transaction text, though it may have to be broken into a two-parter. But not at random times.
bjsguess
It has worked flawlessly for me as well. Really like it. In the future it would be great if you could filter your texts a little better. A Reed Johnson signing or Mark DeRosa hooking up with the Nats falls under my threshold of importance. However, for fans of the respective teams I can see the value in having that sent out via text.
Anyway, all in all it’s great. Highly recommend other MLBTR users sign up. Tim and team continue to deliver new innovations. They’ve come a long way from the black page and white text days when 50% of the news was Cubs related.
Dennis Hardebeck
I signed up the other day and I do not get every text, I would to especially get the ones involving the Cincinnati Reds or National League Central Division.
Garret Strachota
does anyone know how regulatory i will get 1
drew062682
As of right now, you will get one any time there is a player who signs a Major League contract or a Major League player that gets traded. We’re entertaining ideas of offering more options (like team specific texts), but are just doing this for now. Yesterday there were 4 sent out, today there has been 3, some days there may be 0.
Garret Strachota
how soon would the team specific texts be here
drew062682
Good question. Hopefully soon because it seems like there’s quite a bit of demand for them.
