12:16pm: The D'Backs also have reliever Takashi Saito in their sights, tweets Henson. Recently Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports tweeted that the Brewers and five other teams have shown interest in Saito.
9:18am: We've known for a while now that the Diamondbacks are targeting free agent righty Hiroki Kuroda. According to a tweet from Yahoo's Steve Henson, an official says a deal could get done this week if the 36-year-old drops his demand for a second-year player option.
Reportedly, Kuroda will consider all offers regardless of location, and seeks a $12-13MM salary. In addition to Arizona, the Hiroshima Carp, Rockies, Red Sox, and Angels appear to have varying levels of interest.

Certainly better than re-signing Marquis. Kennedy-Kuroda-Hudson-Collmenter-Saunders isn’t a bad rotation. Kuroda on a 1 year deal would give Parker, Bauer, and Miley the chance to get some more seasoning in the minors, at least until someone gets hurt/has to be replaced.

If they sign Kuroda they won’t sign Saunders too.

I had a dream that Kuroda is playing for Nationals. I doubt it will happen.

I think he will go to japan, he stated earlier in the offseason that he wants to stay with LA or go to the carp and LA only offered him i think 8 mil
BlueSkyLA
Where did you hear that the Dodgers offered him anything? I have to say that if he does sign elsewhere in MLB that I’d just hate if it was with a NLW team.

Hoping Cherington will offer him 2 years at $12MM and get him on board with the BoSox.

Reds should jump on this. #2 starter that doesn’t want 6 years. The only question is whether they have the money with Cordero gone. Open up that wallet, Bob.

In crazy Ned Colletti land, Chris Capuano+Adam Kennedy+Juan Rivera+Mark Ellis is a better plan than Kuroda+Carroll+Sands. I’m going to miss Kuroda, even though it pains me to think that we could have sent him to Boston for FedEx instead of sending Trayvon to the M’s had he not blocked any trades.
Colletti gonna Colletti.
BlueSkyLA
Ah, no. No. No, and no. First of all, where do you get the idea that Ned Colletti sets the budget for salaries? Second, where do you get the idea that we could have had Carroll back for anything less than the terms he got from the Twins? Third, where do you get the idea that Sands is really ready to play every day in the bigs? Finally, where do you get the idea that Colletti had anything to do with Kuroda deciding that he preferred to finish out the season in LA?

I think my value estimator must be way, way off — because I don’t understand why a 2.85 ERA away from Dodger Stadium along with his other stats isn’t worth a LOT more than the $10.7 million that FanGraphs says it is.
Then again, he will be 37…
