Some links to check out as we await tonight's 11pm central time arbitration deadline…
- Though teams are interested, there's nothing imminent regarding a trade of Huston Street, tweets Troy Renck of The Denver Post. A source also tells Renck that the Rockies have not spoken with the Cubs about Matt Garza.
- The Red Sox won’t reach a decision on their new manager before tomorrow, a team source tells Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (via Twitter).
- Indians GM Chris Antonetti doesn't expect Grady Sizemore to play 150-160 games next year, but does think that the center fielder will play the "vast majority of games" in 2012, tweets Paul Hoynes of the Plain Dealer.

Garza would be a nice fit for the Rockies. He’s got good stuff and is in his prime, and I wouldn’t think that he would cost an arm and a leg to acquire…Maybe just an arm.

In all honesty, where would Matt Garza NOT be a fit?
And considering how much Theo Epstein was looking at Garza as a mid-season acquisition target (for Boston) in the middle of 2011, I can’t imagine him trading away a good-stuff-in-his-prime-under-team-control-for-two-more-years pitcher like Garza.

he liked garza because he’s a good pitcher and another good pitcher was the missing piece to his club’s playoff puzzle. that has nothing to do with the cubs, who are at least a couple seasons from contention and desperately need young talent
garza doesn’t solve any of chicago’s problems, but the haul he could bring back certainly does

It would be interesting to see if Theo and Cashman might ever hook up for a deal? Something like Betances (SP mlb 2012/2013), Laird (mlb ready 3B), Noesi/Warren/Phelps (mlb ready SP), Adams (2B near mlb ready 2013) and Almonte (CF mlb ready 2013) might interest him.

they match up pretty well really. the yanks have a lot to offer the and the cubs have a lot to fill. epstein might prefer upside prospects to mlb-ready guys, though. an arm like betances would have to get their attention, but i wouldn’t give up banuelos if i were the yanks

I’ll take 2 of whatever Chris Antonetti is having for he must have had 1 too many if he thinks Sizemore will start the majority of the indians games this year.

I wonder if his definition of “vast majority” is 90 since anything over 82 is the majority…..
Nathan Mays
Obviously he’s employing wishful thinking, but it’s not like he was gonna come out and say “Grady has shown us that his style of play will always make him a big injury risk. I anticipate that he will play only 20 games with our club, but we just don’t want to watch him come back strong another team.”

So the Red Sox won’t be announcing they are hiring Valentine until after Thanksgiving. I’m cool with that.
