The Dodgers are nearing a deal with Juan Rivera and have drawn interest from a high-profile potential buyer. Here are more notes from the division…
- Dodgers owner Frank McCourt will get at least $1 billion if he agrees to sell the team, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (on Twitter). Dodger Stadium and its surrounding parking lots will likely be included in any sale.
- Aaron Cook can see himself returning to Colorado under the right circumstances and Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd has some interest in bringing the right-hander back, according to Jim Armstrong of the Denver Post. The Rockies declined an $11MM option for Cook yesterday, paying a $500K buyout instead.
- Padres GM Josh Byrnes told reporters, including Tom Krasovic of MLB.com, that he'll be happy if Heath Bell accepts arbitration and prepared in case the Type A reliever declines.
- The Diamondbacks value Aaron Hill at about $4MM, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney (on Twitter). They had an $8MM option for the second baseman before declining it yesterday.

Didnt look up the stats, but I’m kind of shocked Asdrubal didnt win AL just based on crazy webgems alone.

CarGo should have won as well. How Holliday and Braun were among the finalists instead of him just baffles me.

Exactly. CarGo defintely deseved a nomination, if not the GG.

I really appreciate what Aaron Cook has done in Colorado and think he’s an outstanding person and all of that, but if he’s part of the rotation in 2012 then I will be very disappointed.
I’d rather see the Rockies take an injury flyer on Erik Bedard at this point, or to make a serious run at Oswalt if O’Dowd is really serious about spending some money this winter.
Also, if Aaron Hill is valued in the $4 million range (if that is an accurate assessment by the DBacks) then I’d like to see O’Dowd make an effort there as well.

Cook just needs to move on, and I don’t want Aaron Hill. We had someone like that last year, I believe by the name of Jose Lopez. Yeah, it didn’t work out.

For 4 million I would like the Brewers to try for him also. I would see if he could play shortstop effectively. I would think that it is totally possible for him to have a season like he did in Toronto a couple years ago. He was a 30HR / 100+ RBI player! He was one of the main reasons I had won my fantasy league a couple years ago. I would offer him 10 mil for two years. 5 million per year with a player of his caliber would be acceptable for me. I would be happy if he could hit 15 -20 homers and drive in 70 – 80 RBI. I haven’t really seen what he is capable defensively. If he could play SS for the Brewers, he would HAVE to be an upgrade over Y. Betancourt!
