The Red Sox have already interviewed Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin and Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum for their managerial opening and we learned today that Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux will also interview for the position. Here's the latest on which candidates the Red Sox are considering:
- The Red Sox will interview Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr., according to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com.
- It's worth noting that Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer of the Cubs will also interview Maddux, Mackanin and Sveum.
I’m intrigued at the possibility of Maddux. The pitching staff can use all the help it can get.
Also, it looks like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Hire Mackanin Pls.

Colonel Chicken FTW!
It was Popeyes. If you’re going to make a joke, at least you could get it right, genius. You’re making yourself look like a buffoon.
What better way to change the culture in the clubhouse than by changing brands?
Actually Colonel Chicken has military experience it would get the ire of the Red Sox up!
Thanks for removing any remaining sliver of doubt anyone might have had
I’m really pulling for Mackanin.
The Cardinals are the only ones taking a flier on Ryne Sandberg….Why not the Red Sox, look at his minor league managing skills as a prospect waiting to be called to the show, he is champing at the bit and could translate well into the Majors, the Red Sox should at least give him an interview and see how he could fit their club house, he did win PCL Manager of the year and seems to have a good feel for managing.
Unbelievable how this website can’t have any serious Red Sox talk, without it digressing. Chicken joke is old, move on.
Seriously, move on
I would rather have them take Maddux in as the pitching coach, but it’s understandable if he’s looking for a promotion. As for manager, I would be open to Dave Martinez, Mackinin or Alomar Jr. I can’t wait til they get this sorted out and really get underway with their offseason.
