Would trade Lowe for Street!
Guest 6594
i actually thought about that. wouldn’t be a straight up swap, but the rockies are trying to get rid street’s contract. its pretty unlikely, but if other pieces were involved, it could conceivably happen.
NYBravosFan10
If we can somehow manage to drop some of Lowe’s contract along with McLouth’s and KK’s contracts gone then we can afford Jose Reyes
AtlantaBraves2210
Braves DO NOT need or want Jose Reyes. Im tired of seeing people post that. You are gonna give 5-6 years on an injury prone speed guy who will slow down soon? He is also a “Me First” guy, the Braves gave away an amazing talent in Yunel Escobar because he was a me first guy. Not how they operate. That money can be spent somewhere else.
Lunchbox45
okay boss, settle down.. its the guys flipping opinion, who are you to say the Braves DO NOT need or want Jose Reyes, you don’t know squat
Vmmercan
Funny how you reacted with just as much offense taken…
Lunchbox45
not really.
AtlantaBraves2210
How was it you said it? oh yes… okay boss settle down….its just my flipping opinion
Beauford
He can say the Braves don’t need or want Reyes because it’s his opinion just like the opinion from the guys who say the Braves could use Reyes. If the reason for the opinion bothers you, then attack the reason.
But you can’t defend one party by implying it’s their right to have an opinion then trash an opposing point of view because it’s just an opinion.
They’re both opinions…that’s what this forum is about …opinions. It’s how you back them up that counts.
Lunchbox45
I attacked his tone and demeanor not his right to share his opinion.
Beauford
“okay boss, settle down.. its the guys flipping opinion, who are you to say the Braves DO NOT need or want Jose Reyes, you don’t know squat”
And your statement doesn’t wreak from a condescending tone with an arrogant demeanor ?
Rabbitov
Its okay for Lunchbox to be arrogant when he is right.
Lunchbox45
maybe you shouldn’t use words you don’t quite understand.
Joveoak
Braves have a good shortstop in Gonzales and a good lead-off hitter in Bourn. The Braves DO NOT need Reyes. Btw, I don’t root for the Braves.
NYBravosFan10
and I’m tired of people constantly saying that their favorite doesn’t want a certain player. What team doesn’t want Albert Pujols? or Carlos GOnzalez? or Justin Verlander? Is it worth it for a team like the Braves who have a bright future in the position to spend an unreal amount of money on Albert Pujols? No, of course it’s not. But it’s not like they don’t want them, they just don’t see a need.
BaseballLogic_Braves
Well, McClouth isn’t a braves anymore anyway…
BaseballLogic_Braves
And neither is KK. :3
Smrtbusnisman04
Great! Maybe the Pirates can attempt a Ronny Cedeno for Mike Minor/Julio Teheran swap.
BaseballLogic_Braves
We don’t want another Alex Gonzalez at the plate. Especially one with less power.

To anyone talking about Reyes to the Braves, whether you want it or not it’s not happening. Our ownership’s idea of big spending is the Lowe/Uggla contract type of around 15mil for 4yrs. After the Lowe debacle they’ll probably throw 10mil for 2yrs at Reyes and then wonder why he won’t sign.
roberty
I’ve always wanted Omar Vizquel as the Braves utility infielder!
jwsox
coming from a sox fan..you can have him…there is little to nothing left in his tank..he may have passion but his playing days are very very close to being over. He wil get a job based on reputation not skill.
Hermie13
Omar Vizquel back in Cleveland makes sense too. Tribe has Donald as a utility infielder, but could use him as trade bait for a starting OF/1B (some bat) along with some prospects.
Omar would give them a vet presence and think he’d work very well with Asdrubal at SS who really needs work (makes some amazing plays but overall very below average).
Bringing Thome back this year was nice, but with Hafner around another year cant’ have two guys as DH onlys for a whole year.
Tribe also tried to get Omar before he went to the White Sox and he turned down the money for a shot at the playoffs…well, Cleveland could contend next year.
Micah
the majors has a surprising lack of quality shortstops or even decent ones. the best fit for the braves would be jj hardy, but i doubt they could pry him away from the orioles. reyes and rollins are viable options, but theyll probably be too expensive. i know this s crazy, but what are your thoughts on han-ram? i know hes expensive, and just had surgery, and has make-up issues, and had an awful 2011, but he might be an option.
Beauford
“…he’s expensive, and just had surgery, and has make-up issues, and had an awful 2011…”
You answered your own question.
Jimbo504
step 1: let TLR go to the White Sox.
step 2: Bring Francona to the Cardinals.
step 3: profit.
Knuffy
I agree. There be no throwing players under the bus with Francona.
diehardmets
you forgot the ?????? step
NYBravosFan10
that reminds me of an old south park episode
Tired_OF_FakeRumors
god have mercy on us!!!!!!! what are we going to do without pat misch?!?!?!?!?!?!?
jlatimer11
Win? 😛
Dock_Elvis
I’d just love to see Tony LaRussa over manage the Sox bullpen.
JestersDead86
Braves need power outfielders! End of story.
Matt Talbert
I would like Jose Reyes but not at the length of the contract he is seeking. There aren’t any knock down options on the FA market nor is there much on the trade market. Maybe a Sox-Braves deal for Lowrie for IDK maybe a JJ Hoover type. I still don’t see that happening though. Atlanta will probably go after Josh Willingham and maybe a player like Mark DeRosa (who can play some SS as well). There just aren’t many good fit options. I would have agreed on JJ Hardy, however the issue there is Baltimore just gave him a solid contract for both sides, they won’t move him. I doubt Boston will sign Reyes when they have Iglesias on their farm and that is pretty much the only position in need. Kalish/Reddick probably man RF LF/CF/2b/1b studs, catcher covered with Lavarnway and Salty. See.
Matt Talbert
Josh Willingham is a possibility for the Braves and considering his recent second half prowess that is exactly what we need, someone who can hit in the 2nd half.
