Wednesday night linkage..
- The Indians plan to take their time in deciding whether to pick up the options on Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona, writes MLB.com's Jordan Bastian. Sizemore, who underwent surgery on his right knee earlier this month, has a club option worth $9MM with a $500K buyout while Carmona's option is worth $7MM for next season.
- The Cardinals are hopeful that the good feelings from this postseason might carry over into the Albert Pujols negotiations this winter, tweets Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.
- Even though the Marlins are expected to spend this offseason, Juan C. Rodriguez of the Sun Sentinel (via Twitter) doesn't like their chances of landing Pujols or C.J. Wilson.
- If Yankees pitcher and former Rule 5 pick Ivan Nova can build off of an inspiring rookie season, he’ll be taking one of the rarest career paths in baseball history, writes Josh Goldman of Fangraphs.

That was one of Kevin Towers’s rare mistakes when it comes to pitchers

Word has it he could have had Daniel Hudson instead of Clayton Richards in the Peavy deal, and that Joakim Soria guy is pretty good.

Braves:
Sign Sizemore and put him in LF. Prado to Util. Commence season.

I dont have twitter, however I’m going to sign up just so I can follow Juan C. Rodriguez.. His indepth analysis on the painfully blatantly obvious just seems too good to pass up.
WonderboyRooney10

“Twitter… never before have some many people had so little to say said so much to so few.”

Albert gone get PAID. 8/200 looking like a sure thing after his postseason.
Lunchbox45
he already turned that down.

The Cards offered 200M at 31 years old and he declined? Well i doubt the Cards could go over that. Cubs might be the only team that is willing to hand out 25+ a year but he would never do that to St Louis IMO.
tacko
He thought about it, but then remembered that he’s Albert frickin’ Pujols.
dirtydez
but still… Who’s giving him that much?
Phil Aldrich
Papi aint happy in Boston. Come on Pujols!!!
Lunchbox45
too bad comments are only removed for vulgarity, and not stupidity
Stonehands
Phil, I’m a sox fan too, and you don’t see me spitting out stupid comments like that. 25 million a year for 5-8 years on pujols for a DH spot, and yes, i know his name is Pujols, but can he really perform at the back end of the contract being worth that much, i dont think so. you’re insane. The best splash THEY HAVE A CHANCE OF making, which i highly doubt they do anyway, is sign C.J Wilson.

What, nothing else in your arsenal?

Grady Sizemore’s stats in 2011 weren’t great. His UZR and Walk % went down and his strikeouts went way up. But whomever picks him up cheap might be in for the biggest surprise of 2012.
*Somewhere, Brian Sabean heard “High Strikeout Rate and Lower Walk Rate” and put a ridiculous amount of money in a burlap sack and jumps gleefully into his money-copter along with Barry Zito, on the way to camp out in front of Grady Sizemore’s house*

I was into the idea of Sizemore for the Sox on a pillow contract, but then it occurred to me to double check his batting side. We have enough lefty outfielders out here.
Through, I do agree he’s a smart move for a team to take a chance on. Nobody’s going to give him multiple years with his recent injury history, but offering him a Beltre/Pena-like contract at $10 or so million for one year with maybe a vesting option is a risk I’d take if I were looking for a starting outfielder.

Forget about the offense, you scored enough runs this year. It’s all about the pitching and remember, eat more chicken!

Not too worried about offense, but if Sizemore were a right, I’d take a flyer on him as we DO need a right fielder. I’m content to go in with Reddick/Kalish, but if Sizemore basically fell into our laps, I wouldn’t cry about it.
As for chicken, well, I’m loathe to complain about that. Considering the overall season Beckett and Lester had, I’m content to see the entire team making frequent trips to the Popeye’s in Kenmore Square. Lackey’s issues were clearly not chicken related (And really, there’s no such thing as a chicken related issue, chicken and beer is top three on the Best Things Ever list).

Cashman should get GM of the year for picking up two old pitchers that nobody wanted and having 2 pitchers on the Verducci list in Nova, and Hughes, add to that AJ the loss of Filiciano and you come up with the best ERA in the first round of the playoffs, and third in the AL this year almost a run lower than the 2009 team.

So Long Carmona…
Rabbitov
What size Orioles uniform does Carmona wear?
NYPOTENCE
Nova was a real well hidden gem and Cash realized that and picked him up. Well-done Cash, Now go out there and find another one.
