The Braves announced today they've exercised their option on first baseman/outfielder Eric Hinske and declined their option on center fielder Nate McLouth.
The Braves chose Hinske's $1.5MM club option over a $100K buyout. The 34-year-old hit .233/.311/.403 in 264 plate appearances this year.
The decision on McLouth was obvious, as the Braves faced a $10.65MM club option and a $1.25MM buyout. The 30-year-old outfielder hit .228/.344/.333 on the season.

Easy call on McLouth. I see him as a Grady Sizemore-type; a guy who’s been an All-Star as recently as 2008 will draw at least a little interest on the market.

Easy decisions, now let’s go get Pujols and Reyes 😉

Man, what the heck happened to Nate McLouth? He was sick with the Pirates, and he just fell apart. Hope he can put it back together with another team – A’s maybe?

Was it injuries amounted too much? He was a very solid player for Pittsburgh

I remember being SO excited when the Braves acquired McLouth because he was so good in Pittsburgh…very disappointing performance in Atlanta…it will be interesting to see where he lands this time.
Hoosierdaddy92
he developed “Eric Byrnes” syndrome

He seems to be the type of player that’d strive in a place that didn’t really get much attention/a team that’s not in the playoff race. Nothing against the guy. He had nothing but bad luck.. but really. Time to move on. I’m more hyped about Lowe going bye bye.

That was an easy decision

So glad to see Hinske coming back, he’s an absolute pleasure to watch.
As for McLouth…Dayton Moore! Sick em!
