1:57pm: The Royals are about to send catcher Matt Treanor back to the Rangers in a cash transaction, tweets Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star.
12:50pm: A club source tells MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan the Rangers will "likely do something today." In Sullivan's opinion, the team's biggest need is a right-handed bat.

My $$ is on Rowand… Plays center, and all 3 OF spots in fact.
Devern Hansack
Rowand doesn’t really qualify as a “bat.”
jondogg2010
You sir are correct. I just had a hunch that a move would be made in that direction given the current circumstances.

Talk about putting your $$ on someone. You would put a lot of your $$ on him.

Probably Pujols.
MattCMoore
Possibly… But I wouldnt put my money on it…

VLAD
Jon Stark
that’s the only reasonable comment so far.

Don’t count on it. Texas has been looking at a lefty specialist for a while now. That’s a much more likely move I’d think.
Bennie
I agree. Maybe both though.

Pujols to Rangers with Cards paying his contract for PTBNL
Ray DeRousse
Don’t give Mozeliak any ideas.
notsureifsrs
they should get a reliever
Matt Galvin
Rangers or Phillies?

Isn’t Beltre supposed to be a RH bat or are they not expecting him to return?
BWillie
As an Astros fan, Carlos Lee would be a good fit, I think. Wink, wink.
Rodger Pille
Berkman the switchie.
Matt Galvin
As they need another Catcher.

Thanks for the good half a season, Treanor. He’s good on defense and he gets on base a lot

Why treanor? I understand he’s a feel-good story for the team to get him back, but what does he provide that we don’t already have or need?

Like Evan Grant said in an article today, adding another catcher gives the Rangers flexibility. They can’t get Teagarden back til Sunday apparently and they can play Matt at catcher or DH him. Not exactly the blockbuster move I was hoping for to make the hitting game more threatening.
BrandonBochy
I didn’t know that about Teagarden. Still depth at catcher/DH didn’t seem like an issue. I guess it’s ok since it was for cash.

Treanor? I don’t get the need to have a third catcher unless Moreland is moving to RF, with Naps at 1st. Which could be the case..
Adam
Ha! Treanor… what a mundane conclusion to an intriguing article….
