As a Mets fan, I gotta hope Sandy is keeping his options open with Reyes. If they decide they are interested in bringing him back, but they do get a good trade offer, why not? It worked out well for the Phillies. They would collect the haul for the trade and only give up their 2nd round draft pick for re-signing him in the offseason (presupposing that they make other trades and finish in the bottom 15 of the league). Personally, I think they ought to be talking to him to find out about how much he’s looking at for signing, and if a hometown discount is a possibility, because upgrading the farm is a distinct possibility here if Alderson plays his cards right.
