C.C. Sabathia starts for the Yankees tonight, which means the questions about their rotation can rest, if only for a day. Here's the latest on the Yankees, with an emphasis on their rotation…
- According to Cashman, Carlos Silva, who was signed by the Yanks to a minor-league deal after he was released by the Cubs, hasn't been assigned to a minor-league club, writes Wallace Matthews of ESPNNewYork.com. In fact, he hasn't even thrown to a hitter yet.
- Yankees GM Brian Cashman told Marc Carig of the Star Ledger that he will review video of Kevin Millwood pitching in the minor leagues before deciding whether to promote the right-hander to the Major Leagues (Twitter link). Millwood can opt out of his contract with New York this Sunday.
- Paul Swydan of FanGraphs identifies some warning signs on the horizon for the resurgent Bartolo Colon, but maintains that the right-hander could help the Yankees form a devastating rotation.
- The Yankees can probably forget about acquiring the reigning Cy Young winner for now. Felix Hernandez told Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports that he’s happy playing for the Mariners and isn’t looking for a trade. A number of executives tell Morosi they expect King Felix to stay put this season, partly because he’s under team control through 2014.

Jon Paul Morosi does know that it’s not always what the player wants but sometimes what the team wants? If I remember right, Hernandez’s no-trade clause is limited.

Heaven forbid Felix Hernandez didn’t make the news today! I was worried there wasn’t going to be an article about the unlikelyhood of him being traded this season!

don’t tell anyone, but I heard he’s going to the yankees.

Josh Johnson, sooner rather than later.

Ok, we passed the “beating the dead horse” phase a while ago on the topic of Felix Hernandez and the yanks. We’re now into a “pulverizing bloody parts of horse into the ground.”
notsureifsrs
you’ll have to excuse my pal purple guys; he’s still working on the constructive criticism thing. let me clarify
we know you fellas like to add images to your posts sometimes. we like it too! so we all chipped in and got you one for your next batch of yankees-felix “rumors”
start_wearing_purple
Hey, you try not being sarcastic after getting about 10 hours of sleep in the last week.
notsureifsrs
that does not make my top 5 excuses list
this does

Visual images? Very nice.

The Felix trade rumors should really stop, its kind of pathetic.
Reaper87
Unless you totally give up on this group of players and go 100% into firesale mode, there isn’t really a good reason to trade him until probably 2013. Once people admit this we will all be able to move on with our lives

Not only that, whether a club is contending or not, they still have to have someone pitch their games.
If they are planning to bring players from their farm system to the rotation, it’s not a bad idea to have a guy around you know will give you innings, a guy to lead the staff, a guy that knows the park and the league. Hernandez is still a very young veteran, and it says something to the rest of your organizations players that you keep your best guy around.
If someone makes you an offer you can’t refuse, you move him. If the rest of your starting pitching shakes out better than you expect, you move him. Unless those things happen, you keep him.

It wouldnt be an MLB news day unless two things were mentioned:
1) Felix Hernandez daily watch
2) how terrible the yankees might be if a, b, c, x, y and z all went wrong at the same time…
Enough is enough with the hate for the yankees and the massive man love for the “King”…both subjects are growing painfully annoying now, and I’m a Yankees fan…
Fangaffes
… and the fox took one last look at the grapes and walked away saying, “They’re probably sour, anyway.”

If the Mariners trade King Felix, they deserve to be contracted.

This JUST in;
Felix Hernandez still a Mariner
Yankees still do not have a Felix Hernandez
Encarnacion's Parrot
Every time I see the words “Yankees” and “Felix” in the same heading, all I think about is Captain Picard facepalming.
JacksTigers
And when reading your comment about Captain Picard, all I can think about is Captain Crunch. I guess it’s time for me to grab some dinner.

Make sure you use beer to substitute the milk.

“i was seriously so drunk that day you guys”, cashman added. “i just haven’t really figured out what to do about it yet, ya know? it’s a bit awkward. but frankly, we think the no-pitching-to-hitters program is a pretty good one for him right now. another year or two of that and he could be the next bartolo colon”

Blah Blah Felix Blah blah Joba and Montero
Jimbo
more like Montero, Gardner, Benuelos, anddddd idk… Betances?
NYBravosFan10
Trust me, I’m absolutely SURROUNDED by yankee fans. They DO NOT want to hear that Felix is happy as a Mariner and refuse to believe it’s true. I have almost given up on telling people this news about King Felix. THEY DON’T LISTEN and continue to believe that Felix will be a Yankee at some time this year or in the offseason. I am not generalizing, I am not assuming, I am just going on what I know, being surrounded by cloud-minded Yankee fans. Not hating on any fan of the Yanks, just GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEAD!!!!!!
ltdibo020
Ok…you are now trusted…lol

I’ve never seen a non-story have this kind of legs. Felix to the Yankees was never even a rumor, just a hypothetical posed by a writer.
