The Royals have acquired John Whittleman from the Rangers in exchange for a player to be named later, reports Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News (via Twitter).
Whittleman, 24, was selected by Texas in the second round of the 2005 amateur draft, but had yet to play above Double-A in the Rangers' system. In over 2,800 minor league plate appearances, the corner infielder has hit .242/.353/.389.
Oh good… the Royals need a first baseman…
Looks like the rangers wasted a draft pick
I’m sure he’s the first ever second round pick to fail to expectations.
its ok the Rangers waist their second round pick every year
Eric Hosmer…come on down! Good trade, JD.
Seriously, is this really worth a stand alone post?
Thought it said Josh Willingham
Thought your handle said ‘Vin Mazzaro’
Whittleman to KC~ It’s a “good grace trade”, for the Rangers. It opens a door for the future. KC has a lot of talent, that won’t make it through their log jam. Rangers have a foot in now, with this trade. Takes the rough off a little, from the Greinke deal being a little edgy. It’s a, “sure buddy, no problem” deal. We’ll benefit down the road. Treanor to KC later?
