On this date in 1976, San Francisco mayor George Moscone intervened in the sale of the Giants to Labatt Brewery, which would have moved the team to Canada. Moscone helped arrange a last-minute sale to Bob Lurie and Bud Herseth for $8MM, keeping the team by the bay.

Again, 0% chance Pujols or Zito are with new teams in 2011.

I agree.

Pretty confident to say 0%. Anything is possible.

I really appreciate the shoutout for my blog, The Shea Faithful. Amazing that the Mets actually have TWO players in camp this year born on the day they last won the World Series, Pedro Beato and Jon Niese. Ya gotta believe!

I hate the continued “Zito to….or Zito cut….” stories. Don’t tease a guy fairy tales!! >:(

Mets contraction… for sure. That’s the day after the Yankees have 5 straight top 2 draft picks while Kansas and the Cubs win all the World Series during that period and Theo Epstein is declared “persona non grata” on Boston, right?

As a yankee fan id find it really interesting in the hypothetical moving the rays to NY. That would be fun to watch, and yeah I’d love to win the W.S, but it’s only better if you beat the best to become the best, instead of a free ticket to a playoff spot. I’m not saying anything bad about the rays, but imagining them with the ability to have a high payroll is scary. A new rivalry within NY would make it fun too.
Just saying in a hypothetical scenario. Not trying to add validity of the claims, or the logic of contracting the Mets

i like this idea a whole lot… NYC could definitely support another ball club
but would the Yankees allow for another AL team in NYC?

Is the Knoblauch piece actually about his nephew or a love fest about Knoblauch’s career? Man, that guy is still a deek.
