The Rockies agreed to sign Jesus Colome to a minor league deal, according to Jack Etkin of Inside the Rockies. The Rockies consider Colome and Chris Sampson depth options who could end up at Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Colome, 33, signed with the Mariners, then the Dodgers, then the Rangers in 2010, a whirlwind season for the right-hander. He posted a 5.29 ERA in 17 innings for Seattle with 8.5 K/9 and 5.8 BB/9. Colome was an reliable contributor for the 2007-08 Nationals, when he posted a 4.07 ERA in 122 relief appearances (137 innings).
Colome was a beast in MVP Baseball 2005.
I really wish they’d resurrect that franchise.. Best video game baseball EVER.
MLB THE SHOW says, “hi”.
Sure, THE SHOW is newer and flashier… But the gameplay of the MVP series was solid for it’s time. Not to mention the pitch meter, fielding, actual soundtrack, and revolutionary batting system.
THE SHOW is fine, but it did its fair share of borrowing once MVP lost the MLBPA licenses and stopped making MLB games.
Desperation is a stinky Colome…
He is a really nice guy and still loves the game. He’s at Salt River Fields, Scottsdale right now and should be with the Sky Sox in a week or so. I think he will do really well, and may have enough to get called up during the year. Stupid video games aside, he will make a really good contribution to real baseball.
