The Brewers are looking to add veteran bench help and Mark Kotsay is a possibility, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The Brewers showed interest in Willie Harris before he signed with the Mets and could look to sign Kotsay, who could pinch-hit for Carlos Gomez.
Kotsay, 35, hit .239/.306/.376 in 359 plate appearances for the White Sox last year. The left-handed batter hit eight homers while playing first base and right field.
The Brewers already have a number of outfield options. They recently signed Jeremy Reed to a minor league deal and outfielders Chris Dickerson, Brandon Boggs, Caleb Gindl and Logan Schafer will also be in Brewers camp this spring. Gomez, Ryan Braun and Corey Hart are the team's starting outfielders.

I’m sure Greg Dobbs could use a Sprting Training invite.

He deserves a Spring invite from someone. He was great with the Phillies in ’08. He’s been pretty terrible over the last two seasons though. he’s a defensive butcher and managed an OPS of .598 against right handed pitching in 2010 — a far cry from his .846 OPS against righties in 2008. Not sure he’s the type of veteran the Brewers are looking for either.
I think a guy like Mike Sweeney or Troy Glaus makes some sense.

Kotsay is not what we need.

Kotsay looks like a Baldwin brother

The Brewers should go after Mike Sweeney. He’s still got a little pop left in his bat, and as an added bonus he’d be a familiar face to Greinke.

I admit, Kotsay is coming off a poor 2010 season, but having a veteran who can come off the bench to provide a key hit means something. Honestly, I wish the Cubs would consider improving their bench. I miss the days of having a Daryle Wardeque player on the team.

How bout a guy like Troy Glaus?

How about a guy like Troy Glaus? Kotsay is a definite NO.

Edmonds? Dye? Glaus? Hell – why not try and get Millar out of retirement lol

Laynce Nix, Randy Winn, Gabe Gross and Willy Aybar make sense.

Just thinking Toronto has some spare parts and has already been dealing with the Brewers

Mark Kotsay’s still unsigned? How’d the DBacks let him slip through? What with the organizational plan of signing every available bat that hasn’t been productive since Rumsfeld was running the Pentagon, kinda figured he’d be high on the list.

Kotsay’s a nice, professional batter who can be clutch in situations. Gomez is not much of a professional batter so we need outfield insurance for him. Also, Kotsay can play both 1st base and outfield, so his versatility and decent price tag make him a pretty good choice for the Crew.
