Adam Dunn to the Cubs? I suppose that would technically be an upgrade in LF defense.
Thomas Mleko
He would play first im guessing

Nah, I know- I’m just taking a cheap shot at Soriano’s defense. I would hate for the Reds to have to face Dunn that much, haha.
Brian Culpin
I can just picture Zambrano victimizing another gatorade cooler when Adam Dunn is unable to catch up to a fly ball. Surprised he’d want to put himself in that situation.
souldrummer
True that. With Zambrano’s lack of tolerance for poor defense, you’d think he’d want people that make his numbers look good.
Thomas Mleko
i would love for the cubs to get dunn
Guest
Aramis would too..
he’s been whining about how the Cubs suck… and saying that he’ll turn down his player option if they don’t improve
it’s a shame he had such a terrible year, and there is a very small chance that he’ll turn down a 14.5m player option…

I’m surprised that the Cubs won’t use their present absence of an established first baseman to do what to me seems like an obvious move – move Ramirez to 1b for his final season before they buy his contract out. Leaving Ramirez at 3b and signing Dunn to play 1b makes a shaky pitching staff and sketchy defense even worse. The 2010 Cubs allowed almost 100 unearned runs, leading all MLB clubs (lots of unearned runs usually implies a combination of bad defense and bad pitching).

So would I, course I’m a St. Louis Cards fan.

i think Zambrano needs to worry more about himself being on the Cubs next year than Dunn being on the Cubs next year.
nictonjr
Did Zambrano mention how much of his salary he’ll donate to the ‘Z wants the Cubs to sign Dunn’ fund??

I think the Rangers are a good fit for Dunn. He’s from Texas, they have a void a first base and can let Guerrero walk as DH. And they will be raising their payroll, now that Tom Hicks is no longer the owner.

ALBERT is NOT going ANY WHERE. and dunn signing with the cubs? i really dont see why the crap hed wanna go to a team that hasnt won a world series in what makes this 102 seasons now?
Wrek305
They do NOT need Dunn.. they should have signed him 2 yrs ago when they signed Fukudome. Traded Lee for scape meat.. I do like the rumors of Red Sox and Cubs Ramirez for Ellsbury.. Cubs would have their first lead off man since Kenny Lofton then again Ellsbury got hurt his replacement is doing better then him so Ellsbury is perfect for Hendry to acquire he’s washed upBut seriously they can re acquire Jake Fox for firstbase.. for alot cheaper and alot younger too I think at least 5 or 6 yrs.. so they DO NOT need Dunn.. they need to trade Ramirez and Z and throw in Soriano for fun.. then start from there.. they might be in contention by 2017 at the earilest
BlueCatuli
You’re joking about Jake Fox, right?
Wrek305
i couldnt be more serious Jake Fox plays 5 positions and has tremendous power.. what more could you ask more.. he’s 25 million $$ cheaper then Dunn and won’t strike out as much as Dunn..Huge upgrade to that waste of space Nady
BlueCatuli
You go ahead and take the life time .780 OPS guy. I’ll take the lifetime .902 OPS guy. You take the guy that hits .236 for his career. I’ll take the guy that hits .250. You take the guy with a negative WPA. I’ll take the guy that will help win ball games. Jake Fox was trade for a reason.
Wrek305
What player has a lifetime .902?
BlueCatuli
Adam Dunn and he is only 3 years older than Jake Fox.
RealityGM
I’d be surprised if they offer Dunn a contract I think the rangers are content to let Davis and Moreland battle it out for first nxt year and they won’t let Vlad walk the way he’s played this year.
@Michael C
jphenix2002
Detroit needs two RBI bats because Guillen will get hurt and they need a real DH anyway. The combo of Werth and Dunn would be as awesome as it is unlikely.
Wrek305
they can have Ramirez.. for nothing Ramirez and 14mil to Tigers for PTBNL I don’t like anyone on the Tigers at all so they can have him for free. For RBIs he would be about 90% improvement over Inge.. I think Dunn will stay in DC

As an A’s fan I love Mark Ellis. He is what he is. Very solid defender and a streaky hitter, and oft injured. Hes been with the organization for a decade now, I’d hate to see him go. I dont see any justification that he is with a 6 mil option though. Let him test the market on his own and maybe he will come back and sign a 1 or 2 year deal with us worth a few million.
