On this date two years ago, instant replay was used for the first time in baseball history, resolving a fair or foul call on an Alex Rodriguez home run against the Rays at Tropicana Field. Third base umpire Brian Runge originally called the ball a homer, and that call stood upon further review. Numerous umpire gaffes have some clamoring for expanded use of instant replay, but so far Major League Baseball hasn't budged.

Why Lilly?? M´s have a decent rotation, Felix, Vargas, Fister, maybe Pineda, French, and RRS, Why spend all the money in one pitcher, M´s have 12 millions to spend, and spend 8 millions in Lilly not make sense, specially when they need a SS, C and DH, maybe a guy like Millwood is a better option and sign JJ Hardy, Pierzinsky and keep Branyan or sign Dunn
Millwood 1.5 K
Hardy 3 K
Pierzinsky 1.5 K
Dunn 10 0r 12 K if they don´t pick up Branyan´s option

Francouer is trash. anyone who has a .309 carrer OBP has NO value whatsoever. Arias is also nothing. What’re you thinking? Trading Francouer for Albert Pujols? That was the best the Mets office could do to dump that piece of garbage.
The Big Clayboski
What if a player hits home runs 30.9% of the time and does nothing else? Huge hole in your logic there.

So then you’re saying someone like Matt Stairs is a good baseball player?
malcolmec
Actually, Matt Stairs is a very good baseball player. He is one of the best pinch hitters in the history of baseball. The guy walks a lot and rarely (if ever) wastes an at bat. He can’t really play in the outfield much anymore, but any GM in baseball would be happy to have him.

I have no issue with the Francoeur trade. As you mentioned you are not getting a star player or prospect for him. On top of that the Mets were going to non tender him in 2 months so instead of getting nothing for him get whatever warm body you can and move on

Hopefully the red sox trade for loney.

I have no problem with the Francoeur trade. You are not getting a star player or top prospect for him. The Mets were going to non tender him in 2 months so instead of getting nothing for him they got whatever warm body possible.
