The Twins have designated pitcher Loek Van Mil for assignment, according to a team press release. The move was made in order to make room for Brian Fuentes on the 40-man roster.
The Netherlands native has spent most of this season with the club's Double-A affiliate, posting a 6.37 ERA with 6.4 K/9 and 6.7 BB/9 in 29.2 innings. Van Mil is best known for being the tallest player in the minor leagues at 7'1".
Wow, didn’t see that coming. I think another team will latch on to this kid. 6’11 pitchers with mid-90’s fastballs tend to not be out of work long. Even if they are dutch….
lol
Funny story here. I was a the New Hampshire Fisher Cats gam against the Rock Cats, inside the Rock Cats dugout was Loek Van Mil (7’1) standing next to the 5’3 Chris Cates. It was one funny sight!
NOOOOOOOOO!
Will he be the PTBNL to the Angels for Fuentes?
I thought he was the tallest player in baseball. If he isn’t, who is?
I think he is.
If he were in the MLB, he would be.
Tallest right now is Jon Rauch, I think, at 6’8″.
Rauch is listed as 6’11 but Mil is 2 inches taller at 7’1
Neal Huntington loves those tall pitchers that can throw on a downward plane. I could definitely see the Pirates claiming him.
7’1 and 220lbs.. talk about a beanpole!!
Why is it always weird name players get DFA
