Let's check in on the latest Rockies-related rumors and notes…
- Jhonny Peralta has "emerged as a potential fit" for Colorado, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post. The Rockies and Indians have made trades in the past, including Colorado's acquisition of Rafael Betancourt last year, and Peralta can play all over the infield.
- As we heard earlier this weekend, bullpen help is still a priority for the Rox, and Kevin Gregg appears to be their top target.
- The Red Sox will likely look to reopen talks for Chris Iannetta during the offseason.
- With Jorge de la Rosa and Jeff Francis both facing free agency, Renck believes the Rockies should explore a deal for Dan Haren, though there's no indication Colorado is involved in those sweepstakes.
- In a separate Denver Post piece, Mark Kiszla argues that the Rockies should attempt to trade Brad Hawpe. Renck notes, in a tweet, that Hawpe could be a fit for the White Sox if Chicago can't land Adam Dunn or another big bat.

i’d be shocked if they pulled off a trade for dan haren.

looks like we missed out on that one…and we’re falling pretty hard in the standings.

Boston and Colorado might reopen talks in the off season, but still can’t see Boston offering up much of anything more than Lowrie, who the Rockies already supposedly turned down. Boston certainly isn’t going to offer either Doubront or kelly (the 2 best/advanced ML pitchers and even Matsuzaka is worth more than Iannetta, if he would waive his No trade clause to Denver.
Can see Matsuzaka being peddled to an NL team (if he is willing to go) over the off season, where is stuff should be more effective and Colorado would be as good a place as any if they will be needing starters, but the deal would probably need widening on both parts some for this to happen.

They dont have to be top pitching prospects. a player like Anderson at 1B would be a good trade for the rox.

Things I would do if I were Theo (at least consider)
1) Sign V-mart to an extension- he is valuable espescially if the Sox keep Wakefield, dont use a roster spot for a terrible catcher for one night.
2) Start shopping Big Papi, for prospects, open up the DH spot and bring up Lowell.
Papi’s never going to get his value this high again. The DH spot could be used this season for V-Mart and Lowell.
3) Dont sign no rentals, wait till the off season for this.
4) Explore trade possibilites with teams for young bullpen help. Maybe use the prospects with the Ortiz deal with Seattle for Brandon League (just an example)

the only thing i agree with you about is. The fact that David Ortiz and Brandon League are worth the same prospects

Right now how Hawpe is going I’m sure rockies fans wouldn’t mind Spilborghs or even Smith out there
I mean Hawpe has only scored 18 runs this whole year
Smith has scored 38 and spilborghs 24
both also have more home-runs and RBI’s then Hawpe so if they can lose hawpe it would be good.

As for the rockies we would love to trade Hawpe for some value. He, ianetta, Corpas, and Morales have less value to the Rockies then other organizations. If we could geta few prospects from the chisox then we would trade him in a heartbeat
Linutor
And what sort of prospects do you believe Ortiz would bring, anyway?

The Rockies could pick-up Peralta from the Indians and not have to give up a top 20 prospect they have a couple guys at HiA and Low A that the Indians would be interested SS – Thomas Fields / 3b – Joseph Sanders & CF- Elieiar Mesa any 2 of these guys would get them Peralta plus the Indians would most likely even pick up the rest of the contract owed Peralta.

really? is his pricetag that low?

Rockies should just offer the Indians one of their gazillion extra outfielders for Peralta. Jhonny needs a change of scenery in the worst way, the Indians are going nowhere for the year. They can just let Marte and Nix play there for the rest of the year.
The Indians are rather thin in the outfield at the ML level and the upper level of their minors; the Rockies are like the little old lady who lived in a shoe-with so many outfielders, they don’t know what to do. Just give the Indians a list of who they can have and let them pick one.
mrsjohnmiltonrocks
Oh, and as a bonus, if you give the Indians one of your better outfielders, they’ll probably pick up the rest of Peralta’s salary. They’ve often been willing to pay money to get a better return.

I wrote about Peralta on my Rockies blog a day or two after the Tulowitzki injury. It seemed like a better fit then than it does with Johnny Herrera having emerged, but I could still see it working with his ability to move around.

The White Sox need a LH RF bad I would love if they could get Hawpe for a couple decent prospects.
