The Giants appear to have interest in David DeJesus and there's a good chance that other clubs will consider the outfielder between now and the end of July. Depending on injuries and team performance, the Red Sox, A's, Braves and Padres could also be looking for outfielders in the near future. The Royals appear to be asking a lot for DeJesus, and why not? He's affordable ($4.7MM salary), plays good defense and is hitting .323/.395/.485. The Royals could hold onto DeJesus and exercise his $6MM option for 2011, but there's a definite chance they make a trade.
What uniform will David DeJesus be wearing on August 1st?

Red Sox, Giants, Phillies are my top 3.

the braves would be a perfect fit. Dejesus in the middle of that order would be tough.

I know I will probably get grilled for this, but as long as he’s not in a Braves uniform, I don’t care where he goes.

Dejesus would be a tremendous pick up for the braves. My lord his numbers are so much better than 2 of the 3 we have out there.
ATL_Mindset
Really, his numbers are better?!? Go check Hinske’s stats… Hinske is batting .311 to DeJesus’ .323… he has just as many homers in 8 less games and only 4 fewer rbi’s…. Hinske is also slugging 60 points higher… DeJesus may have slightly better defense but our outfield isn’t our weakest link when we have one starter on the DL, one that’s 0-9 and another that only threw 100 innings last year
ATL_Mindset
oh, and Melky is hitting .323 over the past month and we’ll be getting Diaz and McLouth back soon. Please Wren, please, another outfielder would improve our team soooo much. I especially’d love to get in a bidding war over him!!!

First off, BA is a horrible stat to draw on.
Melky Cabrera’s OBP in the month of June is only .333, which is roughly league average.. hardly impressive. Nor is his .319 OBP for the season.
Hinske is hitting suprisingly well, but his BABIP of .363 is ridiculously high which suggests his numbers will come down eventually.
Yankees420
But Hinske has almost the same amount of RBI’s, in fewer games played, so obviously he’s the better player.
CodyG
I really hope you’re joking.
Yankees420
Haha, yes I was being sarcastic.

Normally, I think DeJesus would be just the type of guy Theo would pick up. However, with the performance of Hall, McDonald and Nada this year, I just don’t see him doing it. I think they are more likely to pick up a relief pitcher.

The braves have several trade pieces that could make that deal happen and still not be giving up a lot.

Dejesus for Heyward
small_ball_13
alright Hillary back to the playpen for you….
Anthony T
If Moore even got a phone call that said Heyward for Dejesus, then he’s say “how the f____ you get this phone number buddy. Get a life and quit prank calling people. “

derek that comment was as bad as that hillary picture. lol

dejesus has over 100 at bats more than hinske and his average is still in the 300s. that is saying a lot.
BravesRed
Chipper has over 2000 ABs and his average is still over .300.
BravesRed
Let me rephrase that. Over 8000 ABs.
stuartsmith1988
Hinske may be doing better now but he doesn’t seem to be Mr. Consistent where as DeJesus seems to always be a top hitter

The problem with polls like this is you’re usually just finding out which team has lots of fans on this site. Are the Braves really far and away the best fit? Or are there just a lot of Braves fans that vote here?

DeJesus would be playing center if he were to come to the A – McLouth has not only been clueless at the plate this year, but also one of the most limited centerfielders in the game per UZR. Although DD is typically a corner OF, I think most are in agreement that he can play a competent centerfield, and give the Braves a massive improvement at the plate over McLouth…

What a Great signing Cameron was. Julio Lugo Part II. Sox better consider DeJesus.
Anthony T
No. The Sox’s offense has been one of the best even with all of the injuries. They’d do better just to hold onto their prospects instead of paying for a guy that would be nothing more than injury replacement.

I wish I could remember commenter names for more than like 5 minutes at a time. That way I’d know better than to read any of your comments in the future.

Just ditch Dejesus already Royals. Call up Gordon. His time is now!

DeJesus would be ok but I wouldn’t give up a ton to get him.

Red Sox, Giants, Yankess, Phillies

The problem for the Braves is that DDJ means that they are eating McClouth’s salary as well as giving up talent should they acquire DeJesus. Nate was supposed to be the lefty CF with fair D and good pop at 5M/yr that DDJ apparently is.

Giants, Padres, & Braves. Thats it. He’d be a 4th OF at best in Boston once everyones healthy.
Sox_homer
I would much rather have Dejesus in our outfield compared to Mike Cameron. I say make a trade for Dejesus. Lets say… Reddick, Bowden and somebody else. Then whenever Ellsbury and Hermida come back….
Left- Dejesus
Center- Ellsbury
Right- Drew/Hermida
Cameron and Hermida as the 4th and 5th outfielders. Trade Mike Lowell, keep Bill Hall. That will make our bench pretty decent. Cameron, Hermida, Hall, and call up a good infield backup too.
