Ben:
If not Wedge, any idea who the first managerial candidate interviewed by the O’s was?
aap212
Yeah, the Sox are really hindering themselves by playing with a 49 ball roster.

Ouch! Too soon dude.

What do you get if you combine Mike Lowell, John Kruk, and 1994? Two balls and a strike.

I really, really, really hope the White Sox don’t fire Williams. He’s clearly a poor GM, and it would be a shame to see them actually improve if he were to leave…
foxtown
Fail. Try again after the Twins win a World Series.
TwinsVet
Kenny Williams acquiring players 3-4 years removed from their best seasons (Pierre, Jones, Peavy, Griffey, Thome, etc etc etc) has nothing to do with the Twins. It has everything to do with him assembling teams of guys who “used to be studs” and failing to build a quality farm system in the process.
foxtown
Little bit sensitive, eh? You sound like those touchy Cubs fans. Oh and I apologize for not responding sooner… I was out watching the Blackhawks’ Victory Parade down the block from my office.
lefty58
Unless you are 90+ years old, the Twins have won more World Series than the White Sox have in you lifetime.
ReverendBlack
Readers of the Boston Globe wonder if the newspaper should just release Tony Massarotti instead of continuing with what is essentially an obnoxious retard.
jon
You’d think that, being as popular/demanding as they are, the NY and Boston news writers would be, overall, good or something.
Yankees420
Maybe there’s something in the water?
ReverendBlack
Nah, there’s just not that much for ~10 people to write about every single day when none of them actually understand much of anything about baseball.
So in lieu of learning, they make stuff up! In fairness, it’s probably a depressingly small fraction of the market that wants to read about baseball stuff anyway. They want drama.
Yankees420
I know, it just sucks for those of us that love baseball enough to have to read their “stories” and “rumors.”

Maybe New Jersey is leaching into New York’s water supply? Good old lead poisoning would explain a lot of what goes on there wouldn’t it?
Yankees420
Haha, can’t rule anything out I suppose.

I suppose M’s fans have more of a reason to murder Yuni now.
bustercherrie
I have a picture of Yuni posted to my dart board for quick needed frustration relief.
…This season, the dart board is getting quite a work out.

Can’t believe that the Mariners were that close to getting Strasburg, Felix and Strasburg for the next 5+ years would have been sick.
Yankees420
Also Kudos to the MLBTR staff, I’ve always wanted to be able to go back further in the posts, I guess you guys got my suggestion, thanks!!

santana is finally going to be playing in the majors. i’ve been checking on here to see when it was going to happen so i could pick him up on my fantasy team.
PRKnight
Im glad Santana is getting called up cuz now when i update my roster on MLB the Show ill have most of the young studs playable, (I kno i can just create them but it just takes away from the excitement). Now i just got to wait for Chapman and Montero to be called up.
Yankees420
Montero is struggling in AAA right now, I wouldn’t expect him until September at the earliest, the Yankees might even wait until next year. Also Chapman’s control issues still seem to be lingering.

You should download the OS Full Minors rosters from Operation Sports. Perfect roster, all the players you will ever want, with well designed faces, stats, gear and stances.
It’s perfect for franchise, RTTS and just playing some Exhibition games with all these young studs.

as a nats fan, let me be the first to thank betancourt for his two-game hot streak. i especially appreciated it last tuesday when i sat in the stands and watched strasburg pitch.

Woulda, shoulda, coulda….the Washington Nats (nee Expos) (nee Senators) franchise and the people of the metro area need to have a winner…and Strasburg can be the core of that winning team. Even though I wish Steven was pitching for my team, I am glad he is where he is, in DC. I only hope the Nat’s management doesn’t squander this opportunity with shortsighted planning, tightwaddedness, and or inept leadership…. Guys like Strausburg, Harper, etc.. only come along once, if that, in a lifetime. I hope they realize this and capitalize on their good fortune.

Now I knew Darvish had a huge workload, but I didn’t know he was throwing that many pitches. Granted, he’s made it quite clear he has just about no interest in ever coming to the United States. I would still hate to see him damage his elbow and possibly never be the same again. I do enjoy watching him pitch, in fact, I actually watch more NPB now thanks to him. Anyway, to get off of my tangent and back to the initial point I was going to make. In NPB pitchers with naturally amazing talent like Daisuke and Yu. They tend to try and finesse the batters as opposed to attacking them. Even though they have the ability to go straight after hitters, they don’t. Which makes their pitch counts so high. So my question to the high pitch count and the elbow issue would be. Is he throwing mostly high stress pitches to get it that high?
East Coast Bias
Where do you watch the games? Online? I’ve been meaning to research if there is any way I can catch a few Darvish games.
darthvader87
I watch them online. But I think the method is frowned upon.
If you’re the same EastCoastBias that is on the forums, check your PMs.

Oswalt can come on down and play for the Angels.

As a Mariner fan, the Yuni/Strasburg article is beyond hilarious. We’re such masochists. If only Yuni takes out Ackley’s knee on one of his harrowing slides into 2nd when he eventually gets called up
