DeWayne Wise is a free agent after opting out of his contract with the Phillies, according to the Allentown Morning Call. Wise, a 32-year-old outfielder best-known for saving Mark Buehrle's 2009 perfect game with a memorable catch, was playing in Triple A. The Phillies signed Wise last fall after he declared free agency.
He was hitting .272/.317/.515 in 145 minor league plate appearances. Wise never made it to the majors with the Phillies, but he has played at the highest level for parts of seven seasons. In total, he has a .216/ .255/.380 line with the White Sox, Reds, Braves and Blue Jays.

Please, Please, Please, Please, stay away from him Kenny.

I guessed he opted out of his contract because the Phillies already have a perfect game this season and didn’t need his help to do it.

Whenever I hear his name, the first thing I think of is Hawk saying Dee-Wayne Wise, mercy!!!

I think that he’s so over-the-top with it that it’s amusing.

I’m willing to put money on him being o the whitesox 40 by the end of the week. Ozzie has a man crush on him, and every guy ozzie is in love with seems to be on this team even though they are all clearly done in their careers example Mark Teahan-Omar Visquel- Freddy Garcia- and soon to be Dewayne Wize…If ozzie goes to kenny asking about him Kenny better say “Look Oz I love ya and all, but our team is bad right now and its the team with the guys you wanted me to get. If you ask me about him one more time im going to fire you”

The only time Wise ever looked good was because Nick swisher was batting like .230 at the time oz made the switch to wise over swisher…and he had a hot start then slowed down to his typicall career minor leaguer ability and yet that some how translated into him getting a contract for the bigs last season only to get hurt and be bad once he came back…
