WEDNESDAY, 1:52pm: Hoover cleared waivers and accepted a Triple A assignment, tweets Zolecki.
MONDAY, 10:36am: The Phillies designated catcher Paul Hoover for assignment to make room for Brian Schneider, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki.
Hoover, 34, appeared in six games for the Phillies this year. The veteran minor leaguer posted a .253/.329/.339 in 281 Triple A plate appearances in 2009. He's also been designated for assignment by the Rays and Marlins in his career.

He was tearing the Brewers apart during the 3-game series at Miller Park.

Small sample size and yet another testimony to how bad Milwaukee’s pitching is right now.

With Pudge Rodriguez going on the DL yesterday, Nats now have a catching emergency. Hoover is likely the best they can do right now.

Just put up a poll on Federal Baseball about this one. Options seem to be Carlos Maldonado (sp?), Devin Ivany, Paul Hoover, or Jamie Burke coming off the DL with zero time in AAA. Not exactly murder’s row. Nats shouldn’t get blamed to hard for this. Pudge is kind of Plan A, Flores is Plan B, Christ Coste (now getting Tommy John Surgery) was Plan D, and Wil Nieves is Plan C. They really did try to address catcher during the offseason and had been getting favorable results before this. As is, I think Pudge comes back and there looking for someone to play 3 games tops with a late appearance or two.
