The Mets are expected to grant Josh Fogg's request to be released from his contract, writes Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News. Fogg hurt a side muscle and never appeared in a Grapefruit League game with the club this spring.
The 33-year-old hurler signed a minor league deal with the Mets in January after spending 2009 with Colorado. In nine big league seasons, the righty has an ERA of 5.03 with a lackluster 4.9 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9.

I don’t think letting Fogg go will make the Mets lose sleep.

He’s just not very good at baseball. Better than me, sure. But is he appreciably better than any number of 26-28 year-olds drifting around AAA? I’m not so sure.

I agree with metsvilleslugger. I wish he had an opportunity to at least pitch one inning. However, I was looking at all of his stats for the last 5 years. Although, he was on some great teams, opponents had approximately a .300 average against him. Oddly, he consistently had decent May and July’s over those 5 years. I wonder how he would do as a middle relief pitcher to eat innings?
