Pitcher Chad Gaudin has reached agreement with the A's on a deal worth $700K. The righty turned 27 years old on Wednesday and was cut loose by the Yankees on Thursday.
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports first reported the agreement and Jon Heyman of SI.com followed up with the contract details (via Twitter).
After starting 25 games last season for the Padres and Yankees, it is likely that Gaudin will be slotted into Oakland's bullpen. Several Athletics relievers have been bitten by the injury bug, including Michael Wuertz, Andrew Bailey, and Craig Breslow.

Good move by the A’s. With the injury scares of Michael Wuertz, Andrew Bailey, and Joey Devine…Gaudin provides some nice bullpen insurance.

i think this is a great signing! I also think he would definetely start in the minors though. He might get called up in the summer though or sooner

Funny, didn’t the A’s say they weren’t interested in bringing him back?

I never realized he was so young. That explains how he keeps getting a job.

It’s really been all about his terrible spring Trainings. Aside from the several times he was traded, he’s been released during spring training twice.

His only good year was 2006 when he was a reliever only all year for the A’s ALCS team. He’s a pretty good example of a rushed prospect I think. Lets hope he can go back to 06, he’s certainly still young enough.

He was also very good starting for the A’s in 2007 for the first half of the year before getting injury problems towards the second half.

Good signing though, I think as long as he’s healthy he’ll do pretty good

I agree with you but in 2007 he lead the American League in starts and sported a 4.42 ERA. The ERA is a bit high but he did eat 195 innings.

Yeah I never either. I was shocked when I read that he was only 20 years old when he made his debut.

Well, what goes around comes around. Good for Chad. Oakland almost always welcomes their former players back into the fold. They could sure use an extra major league ready arm about now anyway.

Great move for Chad and the A’s

As an A’s fan, I looooooooove this signing, considering the recent history of our rotation injuries.

Chad did so well for the Yanks during the second half of last season. I really wished that the Yanks kept him and released Mitre.
I wish Gaudin all the luck in OAK.
