The Mariners have designated righty Yusmeiro Petit for assignment according to a team press release. The move opens up a roster spot for the newly re-signed Erik Bedard.
The 25-year-old Petit was claimed off waivers from the Diamondbacks back in November, and owns a 5.57 career ERA with a 6.9 K/9 and a 2.9 BB/9 in 229.1 innings. His 1.96 HR/9 is the worst in baseball history among pitchers with at least as 200 innings to their credit.

I’d like to see the Orioles pick this guy up. Get rid of Albers. It’s pretty much an experimental season for a lot of guys anyway.

uh it would be a bad idea for petit in the al east are you kidding me? did you not read “His 1.96 HR/9 is the worst in baseball history among pitchers with at least as 200 innings to their credit” in al east has big power bats if he couldnt last with the d-backs which dont have AS many big hitters as the al east what make you think he is going to do better here anyway?

I think he’s another one of those guys that could still pull it together. Too bad Dave Duncan couldn’t get ahold of him. He can’t be much worse than Wellemeyer.
Looking at his stats, he’s somewhat similar to Mark Portugal during his first few years although Portugal was in the bullpen at that time. Portugal figured it out.

Now there’s a pitcher who the Mets should take a chance on. Fly ball pitcher in Citi Field just might work out okay for them.
