Not sure how Youk is so high on this list. Sox and Yankee players are always so overrated.
Rich_in_NJ
His OPS+ was > 140 over the last two seasons. I think his ranking is justifiable.
putzoo
Maybe it’s because Youk and Tex can actually play the field w/o tripping over their xxxxx like Howard and da Prince.
Cade White
Just a little confused as to why Adrian Gonzalez is ranked behind Mark Reynolds, Joey Votto, and Youk?
fpz
my guess is the ballpark and maybe the lineups they hit in
Cade White
Ya, Gonzo should (one day) be in a lineup that allows him 125-140rbi. But Reynolds is higher? Youk will give you BA, but? Votto? Its just confusing to me for sure.
Cade White
Is it the SB category for Reynolds that ranks him higher?
Cade White
Just a funny sidebar; I love reviewing Gonzo stats and seeing that he has only 1 CAREER SB?!
chrissum
Because Joey Votto is awesome.

i hope the tear he went on last year right after coming back from anxiety issues wasn’t just a fluke, chrissum, have you seen him in the minors? was it just a fluke or can we expect that yearly now? Please tell me we can expect it yearly
chrissum
He’s the real deal. He was on a tear BOTH before and after his anxiety issues. He has exceptional opposite field power (but is great to all parts of the field) and is truly a smart hitter. Like I said below, the only thing possibly stopping him is lack of help in the rest of the Reds lineup.
chrissum
Also, he finished a close second for NL Rookie of the Year in 2008…. no fluke

League scoring settings are always the decisive variable in any fantasy ranking boards. Don’t put too much stock in a guy being a couple places outside of where you value him.
Also… it sucks RotoAuthority is blocked by my work webfilter 🙁
Moe
mine too, damn Websense.

I think 1-6 is fine…I agree that Adrian Gonzalez behind Reynolds is crazy, I think Gonzalez is #7 easily.

I disagree with the rank for Helton and Kendy Morales, both should be much higher.
thegrayrace
I agree. Not sure why Helton would be so low. Heck, I’m a Dodger fan, but I still think Helton is better than Loney.
deezdeez
People always sleep on Konerko but he’s a beast

Hey Tim – How about an injury report of who is not going to be ready to start the season?
Bernaldo
This is fantasy league stuff, not about the real world of major league baseball. Right now, there are a lot of awfully good, productive guys at 1B and while Pujols would likely be #1 on 90% of the ballots for “best”, the rest of the next #15 or so would be scrambled on most ballots I think. Also, there isn’t a GM in major league baseball who gives a darn about how many stolen bases his 1B gets! First base has never been a “speed” position; it is one that teams have nearly always looked to provide power/rbi and sometimes BA, but not SB’s.
Cade White
It’s a given that it’s not a speed position, but I am assuming that speed is the reason Reynolds is so high. If you can grab 24 sb out of a guy that cranks 40+ hr, then that seems to be the obvious reason he is ranked above Adrian.

I’d probably bump Laroche up two spots ahead of Butler and Jones. He doesn’t have the sexy upside, but he is so consistent, and if he is ever going to hit 30 homers again, this is the year, playing in Chase fields hitter/lefty friendly park.
