The Rangers designated Joe Inglett for assignment to make room for Colby Lewis, tweets Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. Inglett had been claimed off waivers from the Blue Jays on December 4th, but perhaps the Rangers' signing of Khalil Greene made him expendable.
Inglett, 31, hit .281/.347/.348 in 99 plate appearances for the Jays last year while playing the outfield corners and second base. He hit .360/.422/.516 in 186 Triple A plate appearances.

Does this make him a FA? If so I think the Cardinals should scoop him up. Maybe he could back up 2B and 3B and the corner outfielders, seems like he has decent numbers for a bench role player.

There is a chance. They have 10 days to trade, release, or outright him to the minors. If he reject he is an FA, if he accepts, he is in the minors with Texas. Hoped this helped.

Actually, he has until 1 pm EST today (Wednesday) to be claimed by another team. After this deadline, then the Rangers or any other team can sign him to a minor league deal. The Jays used his three options on him already, so he needs to be on the 25-man roster.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Jays pick him back up if possible. His numbers from last season isn’t a very good telling since his plate appearances were spread out everywhere and not consistent. He’s a solid back-up player who can hit for average.

Amen. I was pissed when the Jays gave him away, so I’d love to see him get another chance. On the current roster, he’s easily the closest thing the Jays would have to a real leadoff hitter.

You guys a dead-on. He has proven that he is a major league talent… he just needs more playing time.

How’s his defense at 2b?

Looks as if the Rangers gambled and lost. Good to see Joe get picked up. Looks like the kid might get a shot to play.
