The Mets claimed lefty Jay Marshall off waivers from the A's today, according to Lisa Winston of MLB.com. The reliever, who turns 27 next month, has allowed 63 hits and 22 walks in 49.1 big league innings, striking out 19 for a 7.66 ERA. He appeared in ten games for the A's in 2009, allowing 12 runs in 7.1 innings.
Marshall's numbers were markedly better in Triple A last year, where he posted a 3.20 ERA in 50 appearances.

I understand in trying to find the treasure in other people’s trash, but my God, the Mets always seem to be the team and more often than not, it’s not successful.

filler trash

Dominant numbers vs LH hitters in the minors. A good spring could win him a ‘backup LOOGY’ role.

A few more moves like this and the Mets are a lock for the World Series. All the other teams should just give up now.

Why is it that every other team can make a small move and get no flack for it, but yet when the Mets do, it’s Sarcasmpalooza

Probably because any time a player is mentioned there are a ton of Mets fans here saying “the Mets should get this guy”. Well, here is one they got.

Omar gets knocked for not developing depth in the minors when we don’t trade for Holliday (who really would have rather played in Beirut) but he makes moves like this and RA Dickey and the same people mock and complain.
This guy could be a Met for 2 days or he could replace someone who will be moving in a Zambrano trade. It’s January. I live and breathe this stuff too but let’s take a deep breath and let the man do his work.

If Omar has more work to do, as a Met fan, I’d be very scared.

Halliday, not Holliday.

I believe its Halladay and not Halliday
