According to ESPN’s Steve Phillips, the Royals reached an agreement with reliever Kyle Farnsworth on a two-year, $9.25MM deal (pending a physical). The move addresses Dayton Moore’s stated goal of replacing the two righthanded relievers he traded this winter, Leo Nunez and Ramon Ramirez.

According to Bob Dutton, Dayton Moore admitted the Royals are moving closer to signing a reliever. Dutton believes their preference is Kyle Farnsworth.
Also, Moore shot down rumors involving Zack Greinke, David DeJesus, Mark Teahen, and Jermaine Dye.

10:28pm: Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star adds Russ Springer to the mix for the Royals. They’d have to find room in the payroll before signing a veteran reliever.
5:32pm: According to MLB.com’s Dick Kaegel, the Royals will hear from the agent for Brandon Lyon, Kyle Farnsworth, and Craig Counsell this week. Lyon and Farnsworth make sense, as the Royals are known to be looking for righthanded relief help. They’ve been linked to The Farnz before. And there was recent word they might look at veteran infielders to replace Mark Grudzielanek.

4:54pm: More Rockies chatter from Troy Renck. The Rockies intend to sort out the Holliday/Atkins trade situations before moving on to other concerns such as the bullpen. They do like the idea of bringing Jeremy Affeldt back, though. Renck has the Twins and Indians kicking the tires on Atkins, while Tracy Ringolsby believes Michael Cuddyer could be a fit for Colorado.
