The Mariners announced today that they have designated outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang for assignment. Oliver Perez was selected from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding 40-man-roster move.
Chiang, 24, was acquired by the M's in the three-way swap that sent Erik Bedard to the Red Sox prior to last summer's non-waiver trade deadline. The left-handed hitter posted a .242/.273/.342 line in 59 games at Double-A and Triple-A this season, a poor showing after a promising 2011 in which he .302/.361/.537 in Boston's and Seattle's organizations.

Gonna get claimed.

I doubt it, he’s been terrible since coming into our system and really isn’t worth a 40 man roster spot.
Taylor Hope
Bet you someone does indeed claim him. He was a top 20 rated prospect for the M’s this season and I like to think we have a top half farm system with some of the prospects we have. I’m sure someone could use him.
notsureifsrs
he’s had about 350 impressive PA in his entire career. out of about 2500. and they were in AA, a level at which he has sucked ever since
he’s still an interesting prospect, but not worth a 40-man roster spot for most clubs

But the question is whether or not hes developing and producing. Plus, the key word is ‘was’.

I hope everyone who complained (and still complains) about that deal sees this.

LOL. I see it and Fed-X, fife and what use (none) Bedard was.
Edit:
This one just won’t go down as a Boston 3 month rental with a HOF sent away in exchange is all.. A rarity…

How good can he be if he lost his roster spot to Oliver Perez?
Wainwrights_Curveball
Oliver Perez? Great stuff but walked people waaaaaayyy too much.
Joe sodano
Great stuff according to who? Pretty sure some little league-rs could hit off him.
