The Marlins have released veteran left-hander Craig Breslow from their Triple-A affiliate, reports WEEI.com’s Rob Bradford (Twitter link).
Breslow, 35, tossed 14 innings for the Marlins’ big league club earlier this season and posted a 4.50 ERA but has struggled following a demotion to Triple-A New Orleans. In 23 2/3 innings at the minor league level this season, Breslow has fanned an impressive 29 batters but has also been tagged for a 6.46 ERA and averaged 12.9 hits and 4.2 walks per nine innings pitched. He’ll now look to latch on with another club and work his way back to the big leagues.
In parts of 11 Major League seasons, Breslow has compiled a 3.80 ERA and averaged 7.0 K/9 against 3.6 BB/9 in 535 1/3 innings between the Red Sox, Twins, A’s, D-backs, Padres, Indians and Marlins.

Poor guy. Now all he has to fall back on is his degree from Yale, his deferred admission to med school, and a pretty good understanding of the world of cancer research.
alfredog
not a major lost for the Baseball⚾ world but will be a major help to the human race btw f*** cancer

I’ll second that notion. Fuc* cancer. My wife just went into remission after two years of treatment and surgeries.

He should just retire at this point, I mean, let’s face it, the past few years haven’t been kind to him.

Good guy. Hope he lands on his feet or rides off into the sunset.

They should sign lefty Eury De La Rosa. He is dominating the APBL
nakslomo
The Padres will pick him up. Lol.

He was always miscast as a LOOGY because he was better vs. righties. But, yeah, he can have a non-baseball career that will be meaningful, if he wants to.
