We’ll keep track of the day’s minor moves here:
- The Indians announced that they’ve released righty Jarrett Grube. He had been pitching at Triple-A, but the team says it let him go to pursue another opportunity. (It’s unclear at present just what that might be, though it’s not uncommon for teams to allow players to leave to join ballclubs in Asia.) Grube, 34, has one MLB appearance on his ledger. He turned in a quality campaign for Cleveland’s top affiliate last year, posting a 2.69 ERA over 154 frames, but he’s fallen back in the earned run department in 2016 despite largely maintaining his strikeout-to-walk figures. Over 44 2/3 innings in seven starts and four relief appearances, Grube owns a 4.43 ERA with 7.5 K/9 against 2.0 BB/9.

A fifteen-player trade. That’s absolutely absurd. I’d go through all the absurdity here, but Markakis and Jim Johnson have zero value. Krol has less than zero value. Teheran and Bauer are a wash. Why deal for one when the other is just as good?
The Braves aren’t winning anything for several years. Why would they send four top 50 prospects to acquire a bunch of question marks? The Braves know their system.
This looks like somebody checking out statistics online and playing mix-and-match, but it’s very far removed from how baseball works. No major league team in the middle of a season is going to acquire six major-leaguers (as you would have Cleveland do) for a bunch of minor leaguers because, logistically, they have nowhere to put all these guys on the roster.

Makes no sense for the tribe bro

are you kidding me? u really think that the indians would be that foolish to send their entire farm system for over priced veterens like that? i get teheran pitching better than his contract is but the fact u think that is a possibility just made my day.
devans6915
the fact that you think that trade is even remotely possible is laughable and just made my day.

Same, it makes no sense what so ever, why would the Indians give up their top prospects for Julio? He’s a #2 starter at best. Yea Enciarte is good but to be honest it’s a major salary dump that the Indians would not cover at all. In addition Ian Krol sucks. I wouldn’t want him anywhere close to my diamond if I was a GM.
