Our family of websites includes MLB Trade Rumors, Hoops Rumors, and Pro Football Rumors. Later this year, we plan to start covering NHL transaction-related news with a brand new website. We are now taking applicants for part-time writers at our upcoming hockey rumors site. The position pays hourly, and we will be hiring multiple people. The criteria:
- Availability to work at least ten hours per week covering NHL news.
- Exceptional knowledge of all 30 NHL teams, no discernible bias. Knowledge of transaction-related concepts.
- A high school degree is required, and further education is preferred. Please include your highest completed level of education in your application.
- Writing experience is necessary, and online writing experience is preferred.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow the MLBTR/Hoops Rumors/PFR style and tone.
- Ability to analyze articles and craft intelligent, well-written posts summing up the news quickly and concisely.
- Ability to use Twitter, Tweetdeck, and an RSS feed reader such as Feedly. In general, you must be able to multi-task.
- Experience with social media, especially Twitter.
- If you’re interested, email prohockeyrumorshelp@gmail.com and explain how you stand out and qualify in a couple of short paragraphs. Please attach your resume to the email. We often receive several hundred applications, so unfortunately we will not be able to reply to each one.

Been waiting for this to come along!

I’m not your guy for the position, but I’m thrilled that you finally have a hockey page coming out. Two of my favorite days of the year are hockey trade deadline, and July 1st free agency. Very exciting news.
chieftoto
But for this to happen, people would have to actually care about this fake sport…
staypuft
What’s the matter, chief? Hockey player steal your wife?

Just because ESPN doesn’t spend hundreds of hours (poorly) covering and over hyping their events, does not mean people don’t care.
Robertowannabe
ESPN buries the NHL because they still are miffed that they could not get the rights to broadcast games very cheaply. They were out bid.
stevenlowell
You got that wrong gozur.
ESPN gave up the contract to NHL2Night years ago because, after Disney bought ESPN, they focused on heavily on revenue.
NHL2Night was not getting the same amount of viewers.
It was replaced with poker.
This happened around the time ESPN was opening nationwide theme restaurants called ESPNZone.
ESPN is not ESPN. ESPN is Disney.

Billion dollar revenues. Let me know when you create something with billion dollar cash flows.
Clown analysis bro…

chieftoto, if you hate the sport, fine, but you’d be surprised how many people on this site love the sport and have been asking for nhlrumors.

Wow good job way to go
Againigan
like so many others, I too have been waiting for Trade Rumors to start covering the NHL.

Is there a position just like this for baseball..? I’d be up for that
Trav16
Amazing!!! Can’t wait for the launch
brewcat
About time! Great news!
BSPORT
Maybe if they take the fighting out and checking they would cover more because it would fit in to the American way better. No baseball collisions at the plate that were exciting, football tames down on a yearly basis. I don’t even know what a foul is in basketball anymore but you can carry the ball and travel as much as you want. Raising soft kids now and sports are reflecting it. Keep hockey the way it is because it’s the only tough sport left. Everybody doesn’t win and take a hit and keep some grit or sports will be too boring to watch.
staypuft
They’ve basically taken fighting out of the playoffs. Every time there is a scrum the linesmen are grabbing the guys that look like they might square off. It’s really annoying, just let the willing combatants go at it.
BSPORT
Well said my friend.

Will this new site be available in the app as soon as it launches or will it be a few weeks
Tim Dierkes
We’re a ways off from having hockey in the app. First we need to hire and train writers, and then spend a few months in a beta as we get our feet under us and hone our writing. So sometime around fall it could be in the app.

It’s about time

Finally!!

If I had writing experience especially online writing experience I’d be good for the job. I have knowledge of many teams, I’m a fan of a particular team, but I don’t have bias toward the other teams. I just love the sport
blueblood1217
Awesome news, I look forward to it

Hi Tim – is there a deadline to send in our application? I was hoping to get mine in either late tonight or sometime tomorrow.
Tim Dierkes
I’m not going to start looking at the applications in earnest until next week. So anytime this week should be fine.
Jack Conness
Great – thank you!
broccolirob
Great news!! Now I can stop reading those half-baked rumors from the Eklund site….unless nhlrumors hires that clown.
Jack Conness
Tim, have any decisions been made for potential writers? I realize you cannot get back to everyone due to the number of applications you receive, but I am just curious if you have completed putting together your writing team. Thank you!
