The Nationals announced that they have designated infielder Cesar Izturis for assignment. The move will allow the club to reinstate shortstop Ian Desmond from the 15-day disabled list.
Izturis' stay in Washington lasted just eleven days as he was claimed off of waivers from Milwaukee on August 6th. The 32-year-old saw time at all four infield positions while posting a .235/.248/.333 batting line for the Brewers in 2012.

I have not comment at this time. Thank you.

reunion with the Pirates perhaps?

Cesar Izturis is a good defensive shortstop. I think that The A;s can use him as he adds another dimension to their line-up.

I’m not sure it’s the best dimension to add to a lineup

.235 is better than .192…. come on billy

they won’t do it though, they never had any intention of trying to compete this year by adding anyone

I figured he’d be the one to leave so that Ian could come back… wouldn’t have made sense to remove anyone else. This will be the closest the Nats come all year to putting their projected opening day lineup on the field with everyone but Wilson Ramos healthy. Man, that guy has had some bad luck in the last year. Best of luck to Izturis, the game will always need solid veteran infielders.
Welcome back Dezzy and go Nats, baby!

White Sox? Adds a little more than Ray Olmedo.

He barely saw any playing time—not surprised here. I would not be surprised if Izturis got claimed again…he only had 4 plate appearances and was mostly a defensive substitution.
