The Yankees have signed Hiroki Kuroda to a one-year contract, the team announced. Jack Curry of the YES Network first reported the agreement (Twitter link). The deal will pay Kuroda $10MM, tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. Kuroda is represented by the Octagon agency.
Kuroda was originally looking for a one-year deal worth $13-$14MM for next season, but recently dropped his asking price and was sending feelers out to the Yankees and Red Sox. Olney reports that Kuroda's salary was an "extra expenditure" approved by ownership, so the club will not have to move a similar salary in order to fit the team's payroll.
Kuroda turns 37 in February and comes to the American League after four years of pitching for the Dodgers. Kuroda has pitched at least 183 innings in three of his four years in the Majors and his career numbers include a 3.45 ERA, a 3.29 K/BB ratio and a 48.6% ground ball rate that should ease his transition from Dodger Stadium to Yankee Stadium. (Kuroda's career home/away splits are also virtually identical.)
Between Kuroda and the newly-acquired Michael Pineda, a once-shaky Yankees pitching staff has been overhauled and improved in just one day. C.C. Sabathia, Pineda, Kuroda and Ivan Nova project as the top four, with Phil Hughes, A.J. Burnett and Freddy Garcia fighting for the fifth spot in the rotation.

Damn, the Yankees just went from a suspect rotation to a damn solid one in a matter of minutes.

Jesus Christ. Is Prince Fielder next?
Roy Munson
No… Burnett will be dealt… and my guess is that Nova and or Hughes will be packaged up for a Bat.. Maybe a 3rd baseman so that AROD can be FT DH
Thomas Cassidy
Nova isn’t going anywhere at all. And as much as I love Hughes, and I think he will be great this year, he has no trade value right now. Their bats are fine. Prince and Pena are on the market. Why trade prospects when you can sign a productive Pena to a 1/12 or 2/23?
morgannyy
Maybe a Johnny Damon …
BaseballFanatic0707
Why do that when the Yanks should just DH A-Rod almost permanently, and either try to acquire a decent 3B, or give Brandon Laird a shot to see if he can produce similar to how he did in the minors.
tapehead4
No – Jesus Christ is.
JacobyWanKenobi
DO YOU NOT READ THE TICKER ON MLBN!? Jesus Christ is out with a torn acl. Could be career ending, unless SOME HOW he is resurrected. Pfft, like that could ever happen.
Yankees420
That was awesome!
jjs91
But can he DH?
MB923
Lol win
nats2012
They dont need a DH they can just rotate players.

Oh my god, is that you Dolph Ziggler?!? Better get off MLB Trade Rumors and get ready for CM Punk xP

I have it on good authority that he cannot help Pedro Serrano hit a curveball. (Major League is the gift that keeps on giving.)
inleylandwetrust
Sabathia, Pineda, Kuroda, Nova, Burnett…good rotation. Yanks are back :/
MB923
I’d rather see Garcia than Burnett but that appears it won’t happen.
Abraham Berrio
the 5th spot is going to be battled out in spring training. hughes, burnett and garcia better be on their A game during march.
tdot32
burnett is starting, and that’s that. hughes actually thrived in the pen, if i’m not mistaken, and both of those guys are paid significantly less.
JacobyWanKenobi
Not 100%, but I remember Cash saying something along the lines of “‘IF’ he’s with us, he’s in the rotation.”
Abraham Berrio
hmm yeah he did say that. damn! :[
BaseballFanatic0707
I am beyond happy that Hughes could re-discover the dominance he enjoyed in the ‘pen, and potentially become the next closer/setup man if Mo decides this year is it.

So, how exactly is trading one of your franchise’s brightest prospects in the last decade, and signing an old samurai ‘buying’ anything. Unless Kiroda plans on throwing rice balls at A-Gon’s face before the AB, he isn’t going to be a 20 game winner.
Wes Whitenack
Might as well go all out and give them the world series title right now.
Angry Disgruntled Sox Fan
You mean, like the World Series they gave the Red Sox last year before the season started?

Adam Hoffmann
So much for the Bombers having a quiet offseason…
MaineSox
Sooo… Who’s coming in second place?
YanksFanSince78
giving up so soon? you guys have Bard moving into the rotation, right? 🙂
MaineSox
No, actually I’m one of the few truly optimistic Red Sox fans. I wont count them out until they are mathematically eliminated.
MaineSox
Also, I’d still put the Red Sox rotation 1-3 up against the Yankees rotation 1-3. As much potential as Pineda has, and as consistent as Kuroda has been, I’d still say that Lester, Beckett, Buchholz compares favorably to CC, Kuroda, Pineda.
Yankees420
With the proven record of Boston’s top 3 in the AL East, I’d say they edge out the Yankees top 3, but both teams have some potential in the 4-5 spots this year (Bard, Hughes, etc.) so I’m excited to see how the youngsters do. (Including Pineda and Nova)
JacksTigers
An hour and a half ago this rotation sucked…
sf55forlife
this is why jesus hates the yankees.

I’m pretty sure Jesus hates the Yankees because they just traded him to Seattle, not because they signed Hiroki Kuroda.

Nope. That’s not in the cards as he doesn’t prepare and warm up the same way. AJ or Hughes will be traded momentarily. My money. Burnett and $16mm to an NL team.

jwsox
Wonder if they have little faith in Hughes bouncing back/ nova putting up the same numbers or if they are going to send Burnett packing. Rhys a solidly stacked rotation.
Abraham Berrio
hughes and nova will slot into #4 and #5 in the rotation, they were being discussed as #2 hahah the yanks look so good now!
jjs91
Hopefully they’ll let in play after seeing the shape hughes showed up in last spring i wouldnt blame them for giving up on him, but he may be able to beat garcia and burneet for spots. He also has an option so can go to AAA and work on the slider and change.
YanksFanSince78
I think it’s risky to expect Nova not to have some issues in 2012 and I think you have to have faith that Hughes was just suffering from a tired arm last year. Kuroda is definitely a good move for a 1 year deal.
missyae
They get the young stud from Seattle and Kuroda and Boston did what? Oh yeahhhhhh Aaron Cook!!!
Chris
dont forget the sox signed carlos silva too lol. colon is still available.
slider32
Nice move Ben!
CAD_Monkey

At least he’ll pitch in the AL East, where we’ll never see him. Good luck Hiroki!
Nick Ottino
sox should have gotten him, 1 yr is a no brainer for this guy
MB923
Sox probably will get Oswalt
slider32
Oswalt might go to the Cards or Rangers.
MB923
Cards possibly, but the only way I see the Rangers going after him is if the Darvish deal doesn’t get done.
Chris
Fielder signs a 1 year deal 15 million dollar contract to be a DH with the yankees in 5….4…..3…
Abraham Berrio
more like a 1-year 25M remmbr he’s a boras client. but that would be ideal but it may not happen,, still, id love to count.
Chris
saying it may not happen after what has unfolded in the last hour an a half, i wouldnt doubt it now. rangers wont go for him especialy if they sign darvish, only other teams are the cubs, orioles, and nationals. 1 year deal will give fielder a chance at a world series, plus playing in yankee stadium could boost his contract demands next off season.
Chris
but yeah i doubt itll happen too lol
Abraham Berrio
hahaha yea ure right anything can happen. but i see the yankees trading one or some of their excess pitchers in hughes, burnett and garcia for a dh or a 3rd baseman that can platoon with arod.
Abraham Berrio
maybe even nova now that he has been so overhyped.
YanksFanSince78
How was Nova overhyped? He wasn’t on the prospect radar at all but had a solid season where he improved as the season went on. He may not be the solid #2 some are calling him but to say he’s overhyped is silly.
notsureifsrs
he was never hyped in the first place. but overrated you could say by the end of the year because of his win total
YanksFanSince78
Overhyped if you were one of the Yankee morons who thought he was a legit #2. Otherwise, a 24 year old rookie with a 4 FIP in the AL East is prettu good. Also, he seemed to mature as the season went on, lowering his walks, increasing his ko’s and going deeper into games.
Anyone who said “Ooohh, oooh shiny wins” is an idiot though.
dave f
Yankees rotation is looking mighty good all of a sudden..
Kyle Buttermore
They’ll still be bounced in the first round of the playoffs. Unless of course they play the Twins in the first round, then they’ll be bounced in the 2nd round.
Chris
highly doubt they will be knocked out in the first round now. much better rotation then last year, and one bat away from making htem selves favorites.
Rangersfan32 2
Favorites? Dunno about that. Texas, LAA and Boston are just as good currently (Boston more so if they can land Oswalt) and Texas and LAA can still get better. I wouldn’t call the Yankees favorites.
YanksFanSince78
2009 says hello.
East Coast Bias

“Cash. Money.”
dudemanbro
i think the cash money thing was in reference to that cashman guy
Jay
Oops, I think you’re right on that one.
MaineSox
That’s different, they did sign Kuroda for cash money, and they do have tons of money (that’s not the same as always buying players though). Plus, that’s only two comments out of like 100.
jasonb
wow pineda and kuroda
looking like a good rotation now!
Stark2k
Excellent hour for Yankees fans, these are very very good deals. Lose a DH and give out a minor contract to vastly improve their weakness… didn’t even have to Yankees moneyhat anyone.
Oh well.

Our rotation, in a matter of an hour, just went from questionable to…outstanding. Wow.
mrmoss
Yanks mut have a taker for AJ Burnett. or they will release him
dudemanbro
the yankees rotation went from “UGH” to “pretty damn good” in about 30 minutes
nats2012
Incredible.
Yankeeboy11
Now trade AJ and sign Oswalt =D
Abraham Berrio
OMGGGG!!!!! Whatt the hell just happened? the Yanks rotation went from being ‘really’? to sabathia, kuroda, pineda, nova, hughes. whatt!!!!!! hahahhahah im so exciteddd!! which yankee fan isntt?? oooohhhhhh here we comeeeeee!! lets go yanksss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
john
I don’t like the yanks but must say they made 2 great pick ups in one day. Both pitchers give them a better starting staff then the redsox 1-5. Tampa still has a better rotation but now the yanks can turn their attention to building a better bench.
Guest 5065
Friday the 13th for you…
NYYANKEES
Burnett not going anywhere. Hughes will probably go now or moved in the bullpen.
wrestlingcritic
2 pitchers with an average ERA of sub 3.5 in one night…not bad
BitLocker
Ugh, I’m going to hate it every time Kuroda gives up a home run. Gave up like 36 when playing in Dodger stadium. 60 home runs at Yankee stadium
Too Many Idiots
Only gave up 13 last year. Stop making up facts.
BitLocker
Hyperbole but 24 is still a lot total for NL and playing in a division where it’s the Padres, Giants, Dodger Stadium, and D-Backs which are big ball parks. Just imagine the small ballparks in Yankee Stadium, Fenway, Roger Centre and in the AL where there’s no free out.
thegrayrace
Arizona is a hitter’s park.
Cory J. Settoon
The Yankees are getting the same attitude that sunk the Red Sox.
Lefty
Boy if the Orioles season wasn’t over after the Pineda trade, it’s certainly over now! Between Jack Z’s gross incompetence and Duquette’s (to be honest I don’t even know what to say). The Yankees within an hour’s time became the instant favorite to win the division.
Peter Angelos sell the team! Please, just let the team go! I have had enough of this! Do you hear me? Enough!
MichiganMan2424
I thought the Orioles season was over before the Pineda trade.
DerekC
Sometimes it pays off to procrastinate.
Fernando O'Connor
Pineda and Kuroda are gonna give up alot of home runs in Yankee stadium. Rays still have a WAY better rotation. Not to mention those two pitchers are gonna have to face AL east teams on a regular basis. Good luck, plan your world series parade now so it blows up in your face like it did the Red Sox last year lol.
NYPOTENCE
No one is celebrating anything and no one has a guarantee to win a championship but you always try to improve your team and the Yankees just did that.
Fernando O'Connor
Read the other posts…
NYPOTENCE
Whoever is celebrating now has clearly not been watching baseball over the last couple of years. How many times has the “favorite” going into the season actually won it all? The yanks in ’09 and that’s about it.
$3513744
I suppose if it’s such an odd thing to be happy about it. You guys know that you don’t have to win the WS be happy about something, right? I think you nailed it just right that they’re trying to improve the team, and that is something the fans should be happy about…at least for now 🙂
jjs91
the rays have a better rotation the yankees have a better offense and pen so we’ll see
East Coast Bias
Rays have a better rotation, no doubt. But it isn’t that apart as it was yesterday. Let us Yankee fans rejoice, last offseason and this one had been disappointing. And the best part, it wasn’t even deep pockets that did it – it was Cashman’s shrewdness, which will probably get looked over once again though…
fxx3605
wait till next year sir i see a big signing happening
Yankees420
The Yanks are trying to get under the luxury tax by 2014, and I believe that number is 189MM, so they need to cut roughly 20-25MM in 2 seasons. If Pineda works out and continues to develop, and Nova remains a borderline 3/4, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cashman passing on whichever big name SP make it to FA out of Cain, Hamels, Greinke, Sanchez.
slider32
Holy Cow, this is the best day in recent Yankee history. CC, Kuroda, Pineda, Nova, and Burnett. Hughes pushing Burnett for the 5 spot The Yanks just upgraded the 3rd best pitching in the AL last year, and with Joba coming back the pen looks invinsible.
MichiganMan2424
Joba, and Soriano will be back for the entire year. If only Feliciano wasn’t hurt.
sdsny
If Logan comes back and repeats his great season, we’re not gonna need Feliciano. Feliciano if he makes it back this season would be a luxury in our outstanding bullpen.
YanksFanSince78
Would be nice to have a 2nd lefty.
MB923
Oki if he makes the team.
slider32
Lefty releif can be overrated, Soriano, Robertson, and Mo can get lefty’s out.
slider32
Lefty releif can be overrated, Soriano, Robertson, and Mo can get lefty’s out.
MattD93
Feliciano isn’t coming back anytime soon. I remember reading a article saying he’s done this year too. Waste of 8 million.
Fernando O'Connor
Soriano should do the Yankees a favor an opt out of his contract because he royally sucks. When he was healthy he had an era over 5 if I’m not mistaken
Thomas Cassidy
You are a complete m0ron. Soriano sucks? He was hurt last year. Your evidence is he had an ERA over 5 one year? By your logic, Beckett sucks, Halladay sucks, Lee sucks, etc.
MB923
He’s a bitter Rays fan
NYPOTENCE
Their are still questions the Yankees need to have answered such as:
-Will Kuroda be as effective in this division?
-Will Pineda return to first half form?
-Can Nova repeat?
-How does Phil Hughes rebound?
Overall, the Yankees had an elite team and just got better but these are questions that must be answered if they will reclaim the title.
slider32
On paper teams don’t win, as we saw last year with the Sox and Phillies, but the Yanks are a much improved team on paper today.

Yeah, they have a little to spare right now.
jjs91
Miller?
Guest 5062
Adam Miller. Prospect from Indians. Not sure he’s still around.
sf55forlife
a bust prospect with tons of injury problems.
Guest 5060
Currently not injured, but yeah, probably worth crossing him off. Reports are he does have potential. It was just a rarely mentioned throw on name to my list.
jjs91
I thought it was one major injury his finger still looks messed up
YanksFanSince78
I like the inclusion of Campos. Noesi is going to be good/decent but I don’t think he had a serious chance to make it with Garcia and AJ signed and it’s too early to give up on Hughes. I remember Cashman saying he was unwilling to send Noesi back to the pen in 2012 and saying he’s a starter and deserved to pitch somewhere. That made me think he was going to be traded this winter in a package. Basically, we traded a young mlb ready pitcher for a younger pitcher who we can afford to sit on. Campos was rated as a B prospect by Sickels so I guess he would be a #4-#7 prospect for the Yanks behind Bans, bets, Sanchez and possibly M.Williams?
Guest 5059
Yep. Yankees have some fast rising talent I’m looking at. Dante B already moved up those charts. You’ve got Mujica, Culver, Almonte and Heathcott, all with varying degrees of lower level talent. Mason Williams skyrocketed up the Yankee top 10 list. He has the potential to take Montero’s spot on that list this season. Let’s not forget Romine too.
Guest 5058
Also, acquiring Campos completely washes away the after taste of losing Vizcaino in the deal for Vasquez.
Yankees420
You’re completely right! This is the first time I’ve been able to think about that trade and not cringe.

Callis just said he’d rank him number 5 between williams and bbichette

TWO PLAYERS. Oh nooooooo, Yankees are buying another championship by spending $14 million in one off-season!
On a serious note, great day for the Yankees.
GriffeyandSizemore
They also Re did CC’s contract
Yankees420
Just an extension of 2 years at 25MM per (1 of them being a vesting option).
sf55forlife
i didn’t realize the Yankees only had two players on their team this year. They still have the highest payroll in baseball, its still an unfair advantage anyway you look at it.
fxx3605
just cause your team cant find a decent hitter aside from posey and belt doesnt mean you have to try to insult us and our moneybanks team
Dan
11th highest payroll in 2011 and a championship 15 months ago. are you really jealous of the yanks? c’mon giants can spend what they would like if they would like to, but they don’t haha. ya a’int the rays or stros dude. gimmie a break
chris_synan1
Are you kidding me? Red Sox better do something like sign Oswalt
Raymond
This other prospect looks to be good too…great numbers and possibly will slot in the Yanks top 15 or better…I’m a happy man…GO YANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
cards2WS
I wonder where EJax signs now. I see the Orioles as the most likely possibility.
chris_synan1
That’s a descent roation..its not great still can improve
jjs91
Hughes is better off in AAA than in the pen same goes joba let them start with the way the pen is they’d be wasted, garcia or burnett is the long man, and soriano robertson and wade is enough middle relief.
seeking28
As a Yankees fan i realize the October isn’t won or lost in January but the rotation did just get better. Hate to lose Montero though.
ice_hawk1002
wow… and there goes the quiet offseason for the yanks. they addressed their needs very nicely with these two deals.
paid a steep price for pineda, but likely a fair deal for both teams, and kuroda gives them nice depth if he can somewhat replicate his past success in the AL East.
Adam Moreira
The price for Pineda doesn’t seem that steep. As for Montero, I think that the Yankees liked what they saw out of Russell Martin to hold on to him for this year (he is a free agent after next season).
ice_hawk1002
pineda, while talented, is not necessarily a sure thing to be an ace or such. extreme flyball pitcher in yankee stadium does not generally breed for long term success, though he does do a number of other things well and should be ok.
montero is also not a sure thing, but his prospect ratings could hardly have been better and he was definitely not liked for his glove, which should leave you to believe that that bat could be mvp calibre when all is said and done
like i said, a steep price, but a fair one.
Ryan Klinkert
Russell Martin was only half of the equation, if that. The Yankees still have a promising prospect in Romine and a catcher who has more or less proven himself at the big league level in Cervelli.
This was a brilliant move by Cashman. Yanks definitely got better value.
slider32
The best young catcher is Sanchez, he is an good all around catcher and 2 years away. I would bring up Romine mid year, he is solid.
Lorenzo Conte Jr
I sure hope Kuroda fails his physical dude is trash. Would much rather 1 year of Jackson, or Oswalt
PhillyT
1 year of Jackson? lol

breaking news: a huge tsunami is heading toward spain following the entire population of boston jumping into the harbor
Brian J Malenke
Wow, yankees are silent NO MORE! It’s gonna be great watching this team STILL FAIL!
MB923
Says the Twins fan. How about a playoff victory (and I don’t mean a series, I mean a game) for you guys before you call another team a failure?
slider32
Today’s playoffs in sport make the outcome random. Too many rounds create many upsets, the best team doesn’t always win. No one picked the Cards and Giants the last 2 years. There is alot of parity.
LG
Not sure how Kuroda will translate to the AL East, and sorry to see Montero go, but Pineda looks like a stud in the making. I would bet Hughes and/or Burnett are next to go, and Damon or Matsui might rejoin the Yanks to get DH at bats.
MetsMagic
So much for the Red Sox’s chances this year, huh? I still think the division title will be a dogfight between the Yanks and Rays, but if they implement the 2nd WC I see the Rays, Yankees, Angels, Rangers, and Tigers all making the playoffs.
dc21892
Wow, the Yankees really suprised me. First Pineada and now Kuroda…
Sadded Sox fan.
Adam Moreira
This could be interesting next season for the Yankees…the acquisitions of Kuroda and Pineda appear to tell me that A.J. Burnett has run out of chances and time. The question is: Who will take a chance on him, and how much salary will the Yankees have to eat?
slider32
Many teams will take a chance on AJ, he still has great stuff and would do well in the NL. Teams like the Marlins, Nats, Dodgers, or D-Backs might take him. The Yanks would eat most of his salary and little in return.
tdot32
wow. i can’t even complain that they’re just throwing around money, yankees did such a good job these past few hours.
YanksFanSince78
hahaha…”throwing around money”? Aside from resigning/extending their own, I would be shocked if they spent (on average yearly salary), more than $20 mil over the last 3 seasons in new additions (i.e, Soriano’s contract/ 3 years instead of the whole $39 mil).
tdot32
most of their free agent acquisitions involved either over paying, or paying the apex of the players market value. soriano is great example of this; they paid north of 10 million last season for a set up man. even if he had performed to his expectations, it would still be a lot of money a reliever, since most closers are over paid to begin with. that’s what i mean by throwing money around, and the last few major free agent signings, plus the extensions which are disputable.
feathers
2 excellent acquisition moves. Funny how the good organizations lay low and let others panic. That’s why there are truly only a few upper echelon teams. Now it’ll be interesting to see whether the Sawx make any knee-jerk reactions and spend recklessly.
slider32
I agree, the price just went up for Oswalt and Jackson.
Fernando O'Connor
The interesting thing this year will be watching the Blue Jays and Red Sox fighting for 3rd place lol.
tdot32
rays squeak into the playoffs, all of a sudden the red sox have no chance of beating them in the standings?
slider32
Pitching wins, so the Rays will be in the thick of it, my only concern with their pitching is the pen.
Fernando O'Connor
We did but did you forget the Rays were 2010 AL east champs? Oh yea, red sox came in 3rd place in 2010 as well as 2011.

luis2738
Kuroda was a loyal, serviceable, and dependable pitcher for LA. The Yankees are lucky to have him. Worst of luck.
drumzalicious
this is an interesting night for the Yankees. I believe Jackson would have been better for them down the road though.
NYPOTENCE
They don’t need Jackson down the road, farm is loaded with pitching.
w00ters mcgee
Keep telling yourself that it will help you feel better when the 2 remaining B’s end up being average at best.
Martin
You can have Kuroda, he won’t be a bargain when he puts up a 5 era in the AL East.
condorave
I think it’s hilarious that Kuroda got hardly any recognition on the Dodgers, but now that the Yankees picked him up, they are a cinch to win the east.
hardcoreforhardcore
Because in addition to Kuroda, they just traded for one of the better young pitchers in baseball.
condorave
I understand that but I still don’t see it. Boston has a better lineup and Tampa has a better staff. And don’t count on Martin recreating his numbers from last year, let alone Granderson.
W. Michael
Good pitching always beats good hitting.
It’s a cliche for a reason.
MB923
Rays have a better rotation for sure, but the Yankees are still the better all around team.
Chris
and boston may have a better line-up but they gotta stay healthy. Crawford cant even stay off the DL now. and hes lokoing to start the season on the DL. Beckett is no guarentee to return to form, and Bucholtz is coming off a broken bone in his back so no telling how hes gonna come back from that. only reliable pitcher right now is lester. Bard is not a sure thing due to him being a RP and putting strain on that arm, and Aceves theres no telling if he is going to have that same year. Youkillis is prob on his down fall now and they dont even have a real catcher. the sox are as disfunctional as the new york jets

I think it’s hilarious that Kuroda got hardly any recognition on the Dodgers, but now that the Yankees picked him up, they are a cinch to win the east.

A.J. Burnett to the Tigers, for Brandon Inge and a decent pitching prospect.
….I’m only half serious, I just think that would be a funny trade.
Hoosierdaddy92
In all seriousness, if the Tigers manage to sign Cespedes to play LF (don’t know if that’s possible now with the Fielder signing) I think a trade of Delmon Young and Brandon Inge for Burnett and a some cash (like 5MM) in 2013 is not far off. The Yankees need a DH and Delmon wouldn’t be a bad one-year gamble with upside. The Tigers need a fifth starter that can strike out hitters. With how bad our defense will be next year, pitchers that can strike batters out will be more valuable to us. Burnett could also pitch better in Comerica than Yankee stadium in an easier division and with no NY media. The Yanks still free up like 3MM in 2012 and 11MM in 2013. I’d make that trade as a Tigers fan. Now would the Yankees?
Chris
not to mention a pitcher friendly ball park at that. but for delmon young and inge? could work. but we really wouldnt need an OF. especialy since Inge can play anywhere and everywhere except for pitcher. how about a injured Vmart and inge with 5 mil cash for Burnett?
Hoosierdaddy92
With Miguel Cabrera moving to 3rd, it seems like VMart is part of the Tigers plans for 2013. Also, I don’t think you can trade a player while he’s on the DL. Delmon and Inge, however, are both free agents after this season, leaving the Yankees flexibility to make big moves after 2012.
David
if that trade was proposed, the yanks should take it

The Jays’ mountain they’re climbing just got a lot tall

Damn solid trade for both the Yanks and Mariners.
Yankees get a 22 year with ace caliber stuff for very little money which frees up their bankroll for a certain lefty starter who becomes a free agent next year.
Anyone else raise their eyebrow at AJ Burnett needing to compete for the #5 spot.
Got to imagine Freddy Garcia has a leg up on him for that 5-hole even.

The only concern I would have is that the Yankees seem to be Right hand heavy. That doesn”t seem like the best thing for Yankee Stadium?
HerbertAnchovy
I wouldn’t mind having Burnett back to the Jays if the Yankees ate a bunch of salary.
slider32
That’s why you will finish in 4th place again!
HerbertAnchovy
Wow, funny. Burnett is far from an ace, but before his NY seasons he was a solid pitcher. I watched him pitch many great games for the Blue Jays.
JacobyWanKenobi
I personally think he’d be amazing for Arizona.

Why is it when MLB.TV said Kuroda was a risk that should be avoided on Clubhouse Confidential and then he signs with the Yankees its all of a sudden a good move? If he went to Boston I’m pretty sure Yankee fans would of went all “good luck with that guy” and “he sucks”.
nestleraisinets
why so sad? That can be said to all fans of each team…
