Val Majewski – MLB Trade Rumors https://www.mlbtraderumors.com Mon, 25 Jul 2011 19:51:00 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.5 Minor Moves: Adam Russell, Val Majewski https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/07/minor-moves-val-majewski.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/07/minor-moves-val-majewski.html#respond Mon, 25 Jul 2011 19:51:00 +0000 http://localhost/mlbtraderumors/2011/07/minor-moves-val-majewski.html Here are today's minor moves…

  • Reliever Adam Russell has cleared waivers and will join the Rays' Triple-A affiliate, reports Marc Topkin of The St. Petersburg Times (on Twitter). Tampa designated the right-hander for assignment last week after 32 2/3 unspectacular innings.
  • The Rangers signed first baseman/outfielder Val Majewski and assigned him to Triple-A, according to Anthony Andro of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (on Twitter). The 30-year-old had a cameo with the 2004 Orioles, but has spent most of his pro career in the minor leagues, where he has a .289/.361/.457 line in parts of eight seasons. The former third round pick spent part of last year with Oakland's Double-A affiliate.

Minor League Transactions https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/06/minor-league-transactions-10.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/06/minor-league-transactions-10.html#respond Mon, 15 Jun 2009 17:57:07 +0000 http://localhost/mlbtraderumors/2009/06/minor-league-transactions-10.html Baseball America released this week's set of minor league transactions, and there was plenty of interesting movement. Let's break it down.

  • The Indians signed reliever Mike Gosling to a minor league pact. The Twins released Gosling earlier this month. He last pitched in the big leagues for the Reds in 2007.
  • The Tigers released Jason Tyner. You probably remember that the Brewers traded Tyner to the Tigers back in April for literally nothing.
  • Marlins youngster Cameron Maybin was suspended for "aggressively arguing a call and bumping an umpire."
  • The Astros removed Geoff Geary from the 40-man roster and outrighted him to Triple-A.
  • The Angels signed former Orioles wunderkind Val Majewski to a minor league pact.
  • Chris Burke was granted free agency by the Padres. He fashioned just a .207-.270-.305 batting line in 89 plate appearances this season.
  • The Giants released Jesse Foppert, who was once the best pitching prospect in the game. He hasn't pitched in the majors since 2005.

Kaplan: Cubs “Trying Hard” For Tejada https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2006/01/kaplan-cubs-try.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2006/01/kaplan-cubs-try.html#respond Fri, 06 Jan 2006 08:47:03 +0000 http://localhost/mlbtraderumors/2006/01/kaplan-cubs-try.html Late last night I talked to Dave Kaplan, co-host of WGN’s Sports Central.  Dave gave me a different take on the Miguel Tejada situation than what my source told me.

He said his sources indicate the White Sox are out of the Tejada sweepstakes and that the Red Sox are also backing away now that Manny said he’ll stay.  According to Kaplan, the Cubs are "trying hard."  He also mentioned that there’s "still a long way to go to get a deal done, but if the Cubs will include Felix Pie they could get it done."

FoxSports’s Ken Rosenthal threw his hat into the ring last night, indicating that the Phillies have offered Bobby Abreu for Tejada and would play Tejada at third base.  Of course, Abreu has the power to veto such a trade.

At any rate, more than one source has indicated that the Tejada situation will get resolved today, whether he stays or goes.  I guess we’ll see.

In other news, Dan Connolly of the Chicago Tribune quotes an industry source saying the Cubs are "closing in" on a trade to send Corey Patterson to Baltimore for an unknown minor leaguer.  The minor leaguer is said to not be one of the Orioles’ top five.  Based on Will Lingo’s top ten list for Baseball America, perhaps numbers 6-10 are possible.  I’m just speculating, but the Cubs could really use a guy like Val Majewski if the Orioles would part with him.
