Jordan Danks – MLB Trade Rumors https://www.mlbtraderumors.com Mon, 11 Apr 2016 23:55:36 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.5 Minor MLB Transactions: 4/11/16 https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/04/white-sox-sign-david-holmberg.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/04/white-sox-sign-david-holmberg.html#comments Mon, 11 Apr 2016 23:10:41 +0000 https://mlb.traderumors.com/?p=64230 Here are the day’s minor transactions, with the newest moves at the top of the post…

  • The Pirates have placed John Holdzkom on release waivers, a week after the righty was designated for assignment.  Holdzkom went from independent baseball to a key role in the Bucs’ bullpen in 2014, recording a 2.00 ERA and 14 strikeouts in nine relief innings (his first and, to date, only taste of MLB action) to help Pittsburgh reach the postseason.  Holdzkom battled injuries, a loss of velocity and control issues in 2015, however, and he pitched only 24 1/3 innings of minor league ball.
  • The Angels selected the contract of left-hander Greg Mahle and optioned A.J. Achter to Triple-A in a corresponding move, the club announced.  (The Angels already had a 40-man roster spot open, so no further transactions were necessary to add Mahle.)  A 15th-round draft pick in 2014, Mahle has a 2.97 ERA, 10.8 K/9 and 4.00 K/BB rate over 97 career minor league relief innings.  The 2016 Baseball America Prospect Handbook ranked him as the 13th-best prospect within the Halos’ thin farm system, noting that Mahle delivers his pitches from three different arm angles, including a sinking fastball that ranges from 85-94mph depending on from where Mahle is throwing it.  He also has a plus changeup.
  • The Diamondbacks outrighted Kyle Drabek to Triple-A after the righty went unclaimed, MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert reports (via Twitter).  Drabek signed a minor league deal with the D’Backs during the offseason and pitched in one game for the club before being designated for assignment last Friday.  The 18th overall pick of the 2006 draft, Drabek has struggled at the big league level and also battled injuries, most notably two Tommy John surgeries.  Drabek has only thrown 12 2/3 innings over the last four seasons.
  • The Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League have signed left-hander Phil Coke and right-hander Ryan Kelly, Jason Bristol tweets.  Coke threw 12 2/3 innings with the Cubs and Blue Jays last season, and has also since signed minor league deals with the A’s and Braves.  The veteran southpaw was released by Atlanta during Spring Training.  Kelly was also released by the Braves during the offseason, ending a three-year stint in the organization.  Kelly made his Major League debut last season, posting a 7.02 ERA over 16 2/3 innings out of Atlanta’s bullpen.

Minor MLB Transactions: 1-20-16 https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/01/rangers-sign-jordan-danks.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/01/rangers-sign-jordan-danks.html#respond Thu, 21 Jan 2016 00:10:23 +0000 https://mlb.traderumors.com/?p=61795 Here are today’s minor moves from around the league…

  • The Rangers and outfielder Jordan Danks agreed to a minor league contract yesterday, reports Jon Heyman (Twitter link). The younger brother of White Sox left-hander John Danks, Jordan spent the 2015 season in the Phillies organization, where he received four big league plate appearances but was otherwise a fixture in the club’s Triple-A lineup, batting .257/.318/.368 with six homers and five steals in 448 plate appearances. Danks has a considerable amount of time in the Majors under his belt, having accumulated 390 big league plate appearances over the years — with 386 of them coming as a teammate of his brother with the ChiSox. He’s a career .224/.300/.322 hitter in the Majors and is capable of playing all three outfield positions.

Outrighted: De Fratus, Pettibone, Kratz, Green https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/angels-outright-grant-green.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/angels-outright-grant-green.html#comments Wed, 07 Oct 2015 21:13:34 +0000 https://mlb.traderumors.com/?p=58337 Here are the day’s minor moves:

  • The Phillies announced that they’ve outrighted seven players from the 40-man roster. Right-hander Justin De Fratus, catcher Erik Kratz, infielder Chase d’Arnaud, outfielder Jordan Danks and lefties Adam Loewen and Ken Roberts were all outrighted off the roster. Additionally, right-hander Jonathan Pettibone was activated from the 60-day DL and outrighted. The 27-year-old De Fratus has been a regular member of the Philadelphia bullpen for the past three seasons but struggled to a 5.51 ERA in 80 innings this season. Pettibone, 25, tossed 100 1/3 solid innings for the Phils in 2013 but has struggled to recover from shoulder surgery. He threw just three innings last year and didn’t pitch in the Majors in 2015.
  • The Angels announced today that infielder Grant Green has cleared outright waivers and will be assigned to Triple-A. Green, 28, was designated for assignment just before the end of the regular season. He was once a prized young player, and continues to perform in the upper minors, but has slashed just .249/.283/.335 over an even 300 career plate appearances. Notably, the move does not necessarily mean that Los Angeles will be able to stash Green in the minors. Now that he’s off of the 40-man, he’ll be eligible for minor league free agency.

White Sox Designate Jordan Danks For Assignment https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/01/white-sox-designate-jordan-danks-for-assignment.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/01/white-sox-designate-jordan-danks-for-assignment.html#respond Thu, 08 Jan 2015 20:18:42 +0000 http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/?p=45819 The White Sox announced that they have designated outfielder Jordan Danks for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the recently signed Emilio Bonifacio.

Danks, not to be confused with older brother and longtime White Sox left-hander John, saw 132 plate appearances over 51 games with Chicago last season and is a career .227/.303/.326 hitter in 386 Major League plate appearances. The younger Danks has played all three outfield spots in his big league career and has generally positive marks in just over 500 innings in center field, although that’s obviously a small sample upon which to pass judgment. Though he’s never established himself in the Majors, the 28-year-old has a solid .267/.352/.430 batting line in 1945 PA at the Triple-A level.

Adam Dunn Rumors: Tuesday https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/adam-dunn-rumors-tuesday.html https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/07/adam-dunn-rumors-tuesday.html#comments Tue, 27 Jul 2010 17:27:00 +0000 http://localhost/mlbtraderumors/2010/07/adam-dunn-rumors-tuesday.html New teams inquired about Nationals slugger Adam Dunn within the past day, tweets Ed Price of AOL FanHouseFOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi tweets that the Nats are more likely to trade Dunn than Josh Willingham, while ESPN's Jayson Stark hears that Washington might trade one but not both.

Check back throughout the day for updates, as the Nationals discuss possible deals with other teams and consider keeping their first baseman in Washington long-term:

  • Dunn wants a four-year deal, but would consider a three-year offer if the Nationals make him one, according to MLB.com's Bill Ladson. Dunn explained to Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post that he does his best to ignore trade rumors and understands the business side of the game.
  • The Nationals want Daniel Hudson plus one of Jordan Danks, Tyler Flowers or Brent Morel for Dunn, a source told Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago. The Nationals offered Dunn for Gordon Beckham, but the White Sox turned the proposal down.
  • Another source told Levine that six teams are bidding for Dunn: The White Sox, Angels, Tigers, Rangers and two NL clubs. As you can see below, the Rockies and Giants have been linked to Dunn, but it’s not certain that those two teams are pursuing him now.
  • The Rays like Dunn, but don't want to push him into a DH role, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. As much as the Rays likes Dunn's bat, they don't want to risk conflict with the slugger. Danny Knobler of CBS Sports reports that the Nationals asked the Rays for Matt Garza last week. Despite those demands, the Rays will keep an eye on Dunn and Jayson Werth this week, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick (Twitter link).
  • The Giants also expressed interest in Dunn, according to Knobler.
  • Sherman says the Rockies talked about Dunn, but don't like his poor defense.
  • Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Nationals have yet to offer Dunn an extension in any form, so the trade market is likely to heat up.  Rosenthal and colleague Jon Paul Morosi name the White Sox as the most serious suitor, and add that the Tigers, Rangers, and Yankees maintain interest.

  • The Tigers could be in play for Johnny Damon, tweets SI's Jon Heyman.  The 36-year-old has a .961 OPS at pitcher-friendly Comerica Park.
  • The White Sox formally announced today that they have invited fifteen players to Spring Training – ten of which from within the organization.  Outfielder Jordan Danks, younger brother of John Danks, is one of the more notable invitees.
  • Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com takes a look at the Indians' bullpen in 2010.  It should come as no surprise that Kerry Wood and his hefty contract are unlikely to be moved.  Wood is set to earn $10.5MM in 2010 with a vesting option for $11MM in 2011 if he finishes 55 games.
